Chapter 1
New Beginnings
Megan Mattson woke up on Monday very excited...and nervous...about what this week
would bring. Friday she had won the spelling bee for her class. This Friday would be the
spelling bee for the grade-wide spelling bee, the school-wide spelling bee, the statewide
spelling bee, then the nation-wide spelling bee. The national spelling bee is the
super bowl and world series of spelling bee.

other things on her mind besides spelling, at the moment. Mainly, she was thinking
about Matt. They would be riding the bus together today for the first time. Hopefully,
