    "Tattoo artists create designs by driving ink into the bottom layer of your skin called the dermis. That ink is held there by tissues formed during the healing process. Your fat cells are located in a layer beneath the dermis, called the subcutaneous layer. These fat cells are the body’s storage system; most non-obese people have the same number they’ve had since puberty since that’swhich is when the body stops making them. Some people store that extra calories as fat in their fat cells, and some people have the extra pass straight through their system so their fat cells don’t end up storing it. The thing to note here is that fat cells don’t go away when they’re not storingyou do manage to work off that extra flab, they just remain empty... and empty things beg to be filled."
