BOOST YOUR ART WITH A BACKSTORY

As a professional illustrator and concept artist, it’s my job to create original and inventive creatures. I strongly believe that storytelling is an important stage when creating believable fantasy characters and critters. Here, I’ll discuss my techniques for devising new characters, how I approach creating their backstory, and how crafting a ‘word web’ helps me to build up the narrative and detail of the design. 1 WHY IS STORYTELLING SO IMPORTANT IN ART?

Generating an emotional response from your audience with your art is extremely important. After all, if people are able to connect with your work emotionally, then your art will have a much more significant impact.
