Make Your Art Unique to You

I love art. I love seeing what other artists are doing, going to galleries and exhibitions, checking out websites, seeing their work on Facebook, YouTube and elsewhere. However, even an art lover like me can get bored. I get bored when artists haven’t thought about how to give the viewer a great experience. It’s one of the first things I think about when I start work on a new piece. I don’t know if I’m always successful but what I do know is, if my new piece ends up boring, it isn’t for lack of effort.

The first thing I try not to do is the same thing that everyone else is doing. That’s the great thing about the online environment. In a very short amount of time I can see all sorts of wildlife or portrait art and see what is “out there’. I don’t want to “reinvent the wheel” but I want to put my stamp on something fresh. I want people to think “gee, that is awesome” and “now THAT is a Patrick Hedges!”

So, what are some ways of “eliminating the boring” and making your art uniquely you?

Well firstly, find something that defines YOU. Develop a style that becomes uniquely you, or make it your subject
