About this ebook

If we truly go by what is happening around us, then we are likely to be unhappy most of the time.  That is because happiness is tied to "happenings" or circumstances.

It is not surprising that the Bible teaches us to walk by faith and not by sight.
Joy however is a spirit which one carries from deep within.

Joy does not look at "happenings."  It has no respect for despair, Joy shatters the barriers of despair and fuel hope within us.
It says, I can do all things.

It says, my life will be better despite what I see today.

It says, my God is more than able to do exceedingly and abundantly all I can ask and think.

Joy makes us think positively. It is a possibility seeker. Opportunities are endless when you are joyful.

If you like Joyce Meyer's 21 ways to Finding Peace and Happiness, and Joel Osteen's Become a Better you along with the Force of Hope from Faith Oyedepo then you will love The Oil of Joy: Scriptural Principles to a Joyful life.

Readers of this book will:
Learn how to find joy in all circumstances.

Start to appreciate what they are blessed with, instead of focusing on what they do not have.

Slow down, stop and be grateful.

The Oil of Joy - Kerrian N.Adebanjo

    Prologue

Joy is the oil of destiny; as oil is to a car so is joy to our life. Without oil, no matter the brand or the make of the car, it will not move forward. Even if the car does move forward, it will knock the engine immediately―so is joy to our life. Despite what we face in our lives, there is still more to be joyful about.

In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

    1 Thess. 5: 18

Joy puts us in command of our life circumstances because it keeps the enemy at bay. The atmosphere that a joyful spirit creates is uninhabitable for the enemy. Joy is what distinguishes us as human beings. You do not see the same results in a person that lacks joy and the person who is joyful. There is always a clear distinction because they are operating on different frequencies. A joyful person carries a can do attitude. They see possibilities everywhere. They are the type of person who says that they will make lemonade if life hands them lemons.

It is my hope that the words in this book will help you to find your source of joy and live the life that God has intended for you to live.

    Chapter 1

    What is Joy?

The definition of joy by many is that joy is a state of mind. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary’s definition of joy is ‘the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires. From this definition joy is an emotion. What I know about emotions is they come and go. Based on the Merriam-Webster definition, no wonder you have millionaires being drug addicts, and some rich and famous people really are unhappy and try to evoke a sense of joy from different sources. The Kingdom definition for joy is that joy is a spirit. It is a spirit that dwells within you and inspires you.

Joy comes when we walk in obedience with God and when we devote our lives to making a difference in the lives of other people. If you are a selfish person, then you cannot be joyful because you will only be looking out for yourself. There is a sense of joy that can only be tapped into when you have committed yourself to help others. There are many people out there who need help, yet many people turn a blind eye or assume that someone else will help them. Some even believe that they themselves need help, so they can’t be a source of help to anyone else.

I have realised that regardless of how lowly we might presume our position to be, there are others who are praying to be where we are. The position of life you despise is the prayer of another who wants to achieve what you have achieved. My point is, we can always be of help to others regardless of what we ourselves lack. There is great joy that comes with giving, knowing that you have made a difference in the life of someone else.

When Jesus came to the earth, He came to heal the sick and the broken-hearted. He was on a mission to make a difference in people’s lives. I believe that by following Jesus’s example, great joy can be evoked from making a difference in the lives of others.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.

    Luke 4: 18

Joy is also a life free of strife. Strife is the spirit of antagonism, which always looks for problems even where there are none and turning petty things into insurmountable obstacles. Strife looks for excuses to fight instead of making peace. There is no joy there. In some homes, there is massive strife that robs the joy of everyone who lives there. Strife causes division, which prevents children of God from manifesting to their world. It obstructs greatness. Above all, when we live in strife, we are not inviting the spirit of God to be in our presence.

Joy is knowing that no challenges in your life lasts forever. It started one day, and equally one day it will end. Having this reassurance will help you go through the challenge. It reminds you that there is nothing new under the sun. The challenge you face today probably has been faced by others before you, and if they have overcome it, so too will you. With this mindset you will be encouraged to look for solution to your problem with the attitude of knowing there is a way out. You refuse to be defeated, and even if no one has ever figured it
