Devil May Care - Dimetri Wittaker

    Chapter One

S o, got any plans for tonight?

Joey Adams regarded the source of the voice with his signature neutral apathy. Seeing it was a coworker at the store Joey glanced at her named tag, which read Becky, before answering.

Yep, I've got a hot date with my recliner and a ribeye steak. It's gonna be a wild one, Joey replied with a smile touching the corner of his mouth.

Joey finished off his aisle and walked into the back to clock out and head home. The man glance down the hall and saw the new girl, Becky, and thought about apologizing. He had been a little rude himself after all, but ultimately decided against it. Becky had been working there for a month and should know by now his reputation that he didn't talk to people if he didn't have to.

Work is work, no need to turn it into a social club, Joey thought to himself, besides, it's my job to stock shit, attend to customers and clean. Not entertain idiot coworkers who push their ideal of a fun weekend night.

Silently, Joey punched out and headed home. The drive home was quiet just like most of Joey’s life, it was five minutes of complete silence before he even
