Prologue

  Celebrating one of the best moments of my life with family and friends. Out back drinks flowing music bumping, dancing  in the alley way moving my body to Beyoncé’s Drunk in Love’‘, smoking weed with my girls. When it all happened fire blasting right before our eyes people running everywhere .I blacked out jumping up in cold sweats as I looked around trying to figure out why I was in the hospital ,confused thinking I was dreaming but the reality of today’s events hit me like a ton of bricks shit had happen in real life .I got up to find out my mother was out of surgery and we could finally go see her .The walk to her room was excruciating it felt as though life was being taken away from me as we walked closer and closer. I held my breathe to prepare myself for how she would look. Entering her hospital room, I could see the weary in my mother’s eyes as she looked up to me. She was calm but deep down I knew she hide her feelings to protect mines. It was heart breaking to know she ended up here by the people that I loved and thought loved me back. 15plus years of friendship would change in a blink of an eye. I was currently learning that shit the hard way. See I loved being around my way I was a real hood girl it felt like a real family but in the end every man was left to fend for themselves. We were a pack always had each other’s back see it was me Sade" my girl Shanice, Keisha, Leigh, koyla, Cynmer and Journii. We did everything together, protected each other no matter the situation or how bad shit could escalated when we each would run into a problem. We were TTG (trained to go) Keisha was related to Tyrell who was Shanice boo thing. He rolled with Webbie, Tip, Flex, Free, Drew and Wayne. They always hung together, you never went anywhere without seeing the other and if you did, they were never too far behind. It was love within everybody from around the way it was section off into two 48th place and 49th and Quarles things changed when my brother Tip cousin Trick got killed by one of our own. I think that’s when everything really got divided. It was a lot going on around that time I was just too young to understand until I got older in started seeing shit for myself. It’s crazy how your friends can turn into your worst enemy in a blank of an eye, but you dealt every card that’s in your hand you just got to know how to play the game. Will ‘Sade fold or rise above everything that’s thrown her way.

SADE

A good school day when we supposed to be there me and the gang holding down the block of 48th. We were hanging out at our old head Peet house he was our hood boy Free stepfather. Free and I attend the same high school together, we attended Luke C. Moore right across the street from Brooklyn station. We walked in front of the building to go inside when free seen a couple dudes he knew.

He stopped prompting me to wait on the side while they dapped up and chopped it up a bit until we all walked inside together.

When we walked inside it was vacant the school year was slowly ending and many students where no longer bothering to come to school. Wasn’t nothing moving so we rolled out.

On our way back around the way we seen our hood girl Destiny at L’Enfant plaza she rolled with us back on our side of town. Once we got off the train at Deanwood station Free rolled a jay while we walked to his father house the block was quiet not too many people out but old heads and cluckers.

We chilled out for a while just kicking back smoking until we got hungry. We decided to walk to McDonalds on NellyHellen to get some food since nobody was outside yet in school was almost about to be let out, we decided to sit inside. We ordered and as soon as we sat down Free started joaning on people. When we finished eating, we walked to Minnesota Ave. School was out and the station was packed with people everywhere. Friendship Collegiate high school was across the street from the station but by time they let out Spingarn high was already out there and 37th boys it was always different sets from different hoods posted up.

We ran into a little problem when Free ran into some Kenilworth boys. Kenilworth and 49th was beefing ever since I was a little girl and till this day, I don’t know the real reason behind the feud.

Free didnt give a fuck that he was outnumber that nigga was always ready. He walked up to them with his blade in hand ready for whatever they had to bring his way. I knew one of the hood girls Dell she was my sister Cocaine best friend and my Jr we gave each other hugs, and I whispered in her ear to tell her men to stand down.

It was only me and Destiny with Free and he was outnumbered, it was all niggas Destiny and I really wouldn’t have been no type of help to him.

I wasn’t going let them do my nigga boosie. They walked off in we got on the U4 after it came from around River Terrace, I had a lot of good men from around there. Once we got by the 48th store we rung the bell to get off the bus, when we got off, we seen Webbie and his brother Wayne. Free told them what had just taken place at Minnesota while we walked back to his father house.

I called Journii to see if she made it home in to come outside in meet us. When she got there, she walked up with Leigh and her daughter Layla she had to take her in the house so me and Destiny walked with them. On the walk there Journii rolled a jay, once we arrived I walked inside to speak to Leigh mother Ms.Pat while the girls stayed outside sparking the jay up. Inside Leigh made sure her daughter was settled. I had already walked back outside joining the girls in the smoking session when Leigh came out right behind me. She wasn’t even able to hit the jay good before her mother was calling her back in the house so that she could go up the 48th store and play her numbers.

We finished the jay while walking back up the street Journii and Destiney stopped in front of Peet house were the whole gang was. While I continued to walk with Leigh to the corner store. I had the munchies, so I needed to get me some snacks. After getting what we needed out the store we walked backed to Peet house. I was high as hell and wanted to play so I slapped Webbie in the face and dragged him of the porch. He hit me back and he and flex started to jump me. Before you knew it, everybody broke out play fighting amongst each other.

After the sun went down everybody went their separate ways, I ended up going to Webbie house with him. We were sum what in an open relationship, but we never had any titles on what we were. We just fucked on each other from time to time. Even though he was 2 years younger than me that nigga was slinging dick like a grown man. He was hung like a hoarse and I was hooked of him.

The first time we meet it was a connection, like we knew each other our whole lives in we been stuck under each other ever since.

Tyrell ended up coming over to play Wayne on the Xbox while Webbie and I went to his room to have sex. After Webbie and I finished we went back in the living room to join Tyrell and Wayne. Once the game was done, I asked Tyrell to take me home. Out of everybody him and I was the closest even more so than the girls. He knew all my deepest secrets we talked about everything. He knew stuff about me that no one else knew I trusted him with me.

Tyrell and Tip was the only two who really knew me in and out.

Once we pulled up to my house, we said our goodnights and I love you’s and he was ghost. I went inside to prepare to get in the shower and get ready for school tomorrow. The next morning, I woke up late it was 8:30 I had overslept an hour and was rushing for time. Good thing I ironed my uniform the night before so all I had to do was freshen up and brush my teeth and I could be on my way out the door.

My first period class was science I always slept through that class in surprisingly I passed my end of the year grade with a C. I guess the little I did do was enough to get me by. The school year was slowing ending and I was preparing myself for all my finals and end of the year projects. Once I turned in all my projects in took my finals I stopped going to school. My last day was to pick up my cap in gown. All these years in school and I was finally done I was proud of myself. I wanted to go into the army so when the school offered students to take the ASVAB test I jumped at the opportunity. I was ready to start my life as an adult.
