She mentions how it felt being the baby girl of the family and becoming a single mom. She lived in a house of six children with a mom and dad who worked hard all their lives to put food on the table. Her parents always stressed to her brothers and sister how important it was to work and save for the future. She believes that writing this book made her realize that life is not always easy. However, putting things on paper gave her an opportunity to keep it real. She hopes this book would encourage others to begin to learn how to love, live, and forgive again.

My mom, Juanita Buie Douglas. The strongest God-fearing woman I have ever met. You are the person whom I get my strength from when doors are shut in my face and people walk away. You keep moving, no matter what. I have watched you all these years and wonder why sometimes you never shed a tear. You just kept working and praying.

To my son, Christopher Antwan Burch. My baby boy who I am honored and blessed to have in my life. My support, my bodyguard, my prayer warrior, my handsome man. May God continue to use you as a husband and father one day
