What started off as a play with words quickly opened a new path in the writing world for me. I never thought I would find myself creating verses of poetry when I first began writing – you see, poetry is not a commonly shared love… as a young scholar, though English was my favourite subject – I wasn’t eager when the poetry section came around. Like all things in life, things change. Poetry came to me when I could feel my fingers yearning to write and I didn’t have time to create long chapters in the middle of studying, so instead I tried my hand with something new. I did the typical style, the long verses for a while when after the 30th poem I discovered the simple beauty in modern short verse poetry.

It was new, at least to me, and I found myself drawn to the many wonderful posts online, where three or five short sentences had such a great impact on the soul.

And that’s what writing – poetry – is all about. It’s about feeding the soul. Giving comfort when needed, creating words that maybe someone else can’t seem to say on their own. It’s soothing the inner turmoil, caressing the broken hearted. Poetry is all the emotions we carry, even if it is in six, three, or, twenty little words.

The love for poetry has been with people for centuries and it has remained till today, even though it has evolved over time from Shakespeare to today’s modern poets of the world. But the thing about poetry is that it will always remain… it will always have someone, maybe not all, but someone to connect to.

I hope these short verses connect with you, leave you with peace, comfort you if needed. Or, help you find the words you couldn’t say.
