    Chapter 1

    Elizabeth Bennet tried to keep her excitement for seeing Mr. Darcy contained in a dignified manner, but it was quite hard to do such a thing. Since he proposed and asked her father for her hand, she had found herself falling more in love with the man she couldn’t stand for so long. 

    They had both been undoubtedly wrong in their initial perceptions of each other, Mr. Darcy in his prideful demeanor around her and her family and Elizabeth with her prejudice for the man that was now her intended.

    She wondered if their futures would have entwined had they been more cordial at that first meeting at the ball. As soon as the thought entered, she quickly dismissed it. They’d both grown to admire and respect each other ever since she learned of Wickham’s poor character and deceitful nature and Darcy had shown his true self in saving Lydia’s good name and overseeing her marriage to Wickham.

    Now, Elizabeth looked forward to each moment they had together and counted down the days to her wedding day. Momentarily, she was gathering edibles for their afternoon lunch while trying not to listen to her mother’s current erratic state and complaints of the day.

    Mr. Bennet, this will not do, her mother said, following her father through the house. Jane and Lizzy will be married in a fortnight, and my Lydia is already settled with a husband.
