    Maya Park woke up in pain. It was a feeling rather like one she had known before, when she was on her period and it was not yet focused on her uterus. Her breasts ached, almost as if they were swollen and overfull. She felt like her skin was too small for her, and at first she tried to adjust herself in her bed, but that only led to another uncomfortable realization. The bed that she was in was not her own. While it was comfortable, and the pillow was of an appropriate firmness, it wasn’t her own bed. It was too small, and it was in the middle of a room Maya couldn’t quite place so long as she was in the dark.

    Hello? Maya asked the darkness, sitting up and examining her surroundings.
