    WHAT ARE THE TECHNIQUES OF RATTLING?

    First to consider is that although there are techniques, rattling can be done immediately, spontaneously. And, as we rattle, the techniques of rattling flow naturally.

    A finely made rattle over 4,000 years old from ancient Egypt, 2323–2291 B.C.E.

    It is known as a sistrum and is inscribed with the name of King Teti.

    A sort of musical rattle, the sistrum was shaken in cadence, marking the rhythm at religious ceremonies. Its soothing music, evoking an ancient rite—the shaking of the papyrus—warded off the violence of dangerous deities, Hathor in particular.

    Yes, it is good to be aware of different techniques. A basic rattle: a vessel or container, a shell with pebbles, seeds, or other small hard objects and perhaps a handle.
