Chapter 1

Asuma walked down the hallway of a research building, no one knew about, his hands covered in blood. He opened the door to the last room he needed to check for any other staff members or experiments he needed to finish off. Walking in the room there stood the two people who had helped him start this massacre he started the two he called mom and dad. Behind his mother stood a little girl who was five years old looking toward Asuma while his father went to the door to watch for any more reinforcements that might come. Asuma walked up to his mother who squatted down to talk to him.

Asuma when everything is finished here double check to make sure that Athena is fine. After find a way to get to the Land of Green and head to their magic city Paradise.

Okay but who’s gonna let a ten year old with a little girl into the city? asked Asuma looking toward Athena.

I have some contacts there that I told about the situation going on and they’re going to be waiting for the both of you to arrive. Where’s Rose at right now?

She’s outside flying around checking for any more reinforcements coming in. She said it was to cramp in here to fly comfortably.

Good she will watch over the both of you, and take these documents they have everything you need to know on how to use your magic. There’s also a few documents on Athena that might help you.

Asuma was handed over a file filled with documents and he looked at it for a few seconds fully realizing what was going to happen now. He walked over to Athena grabbing her wrist and pulled her along with him. Athena resisted as much as she could against him since she also knew what was happening as well. Asuma threw Athena out of the room shutting the door behind her. He faced the people he called parents to do what they wanted done.

Even though he knew they weren’t his real parents he still didn’t want everything he knew to disappear. Both of them nodded at Asuma to reassure him that this needed to be done.

Athena was banging on the door the whole time when it opened back up with Asuma walking out and grabbing here wrist. She didn’t see much but she did manage to see two mangled bodies as she was pulled along. As she was pulled along throughout the facility toward the exit red alarm lights were going off. She also saw bodies of both security and the people that worked here missing body parts, torn apart, or their eyes burned out.

Once outside Asuma called for Rose which made Athena look up seeing what looked like a hawk. As it got closer she noticed that it looked like a hawk from afar but up close Rose didn’t have regular feet like hawks and had hand like features on its wings. Rose landed on all fours her wings folding for she could use her front paws. She made normal sounds like a hawk and Asuma seemed to understand her.

After telling Asuma what he wanted Rose flapped her wings and took off to be their eyes in the sky for them. He continued walking dragging Athena along with him. Once the both of them were at the tree line Rose came back down to watch Athena while Asuam went back to the facility. Watching from the distance Athena saw the whole area where the secret facility was explode in a ginormous fireball.

A few minutes later Asuma showed up grabbing Athena and continued walking forward. Rose was told to find a map for they could at least find their way to the Land of Green. As night came upon them Asuma setup a fire for the night catching some rabbits to eat.

Athena hesitated at first to eat the rabbit but she was hungry enough to go ahead and eat it. After their dinner Asuma sat looking up at the star filled sky while Athena was staring at him.

You know it’s rude to just stare at someone. Asuma said looking back down at her.

Why? asked Athena in a low voice.

What?

Why did you have to kill them for?

Talking about mom and dad?

Athena shook her head yes to answer him, They didn’t want any evidence of that place left or information on what happened there.

Even themselves?

Yeah...  including themselves.

There was a few minutes of complete silence before Athena started talking again. This time though she talked a bit more louder than the first time.

So where are we going now?

Land of Green.

What’s that place?

One of the Four Great Nations. And before you ask the other three are the Land of Dragons, Land of the Dead, and the Land of Rock.

Are they friends with each other?

Friends? Right they didn’t teach you much and haven’t let you out of the base since you were born. Uh, I wouldn’t say that they have a mutual relationship except for the Land of Green and Dragons I guess who could say they are friends.

Where are we going to in the Land of Green?

Paradise it’s their magic city where the magic users come from. We should have someone waiting for us there. Enough questions now get some sleep.

Athena listened and laid on the ground closing her eyes to try and get some rest. Asuma opened the file he was given to look at the information on Athena. There were three pages of information on her and the first page gave basic information like name and height. The second page was a report of what experiments they have done on her so far, what her magic capacity was, and how far could they push her without killing her.

The second page didn’t give much to help Asuma since it was the same as any other file on their experiments. When he looked over the third page where it showed in more detail in what they had done to her and what they planned on her using for is where learned more. Through the experiments they did on Athena and what they injected her with she was capable in amplifying someone’s magic. But she could only do it for one person before the magic essence in her body started to overload her and possibly kill her.

The notes continued saying they had tuned her special magic essence to only work for Tempests. Asuma chuckled to himself and shook his head before reading the last few notes on the page and looked over at Athena. He took all the papers on Athena and chucked them into the fire to burn the information on her. He then laid on the ground closing his eyes to get some rest as well.

In the morning Asuma woke up as the sun was just rising and walked over to Athena nudging her to get her up. She rubbed her eyes getting up off the floor hearing Asuma tell her something but couldn’t catch it in time. Knowing she didn’t hear him the first time he repeated himself.

Get up and use the bathroom if you need to because we’re leaving soon. Got it this time?

Yes.

After a few minutes the two left walking west since Asuma only knew the Land of Green was west from where they were. A few hours after walking Asuma had them stop for Athena could eat some breakfast. Rose also caught back up with them with a map in her back paws landing on Asuma’s shoulder. Looking at the map he now knew which way they needed to go and after breakfast was done they headed out again.

Asuma guessed they could get there in four days five max. He could get there even sooner but now he had someone he was travelling with so he couldn’t do what he normally does. Looking over the documents on the powers he might be able to use one caught his eye. Body duplicating magic seemed liked it would help out the most. The spell would make an exact copy of the person and that clone would be able to do everything that person could do and cast magic as well.

The runes Asuma needed to memorize looked complicated but he started doing his best to remember them. As he was doing that Rose went ahead to see if there was going to be trouble. Athena watched as Asuma tried using the magic. When he tried to use it, it failed and backed fire on him throwing him to the ground. Athena rushed over to see if he was okay from the blast.

I’m fine Athena.

What happened?

Right you don’t fully know about magic. Once someone decides to use magic in order to use different types of magic they have to learn the runes to cast it.

Runes?

Each magic has specific runes to it some even share runes. The problem is people can only remember so much so people tend to use magic they have an affinity for.

What does that mean?

Right I’m talking to a five year old. People are better using certain magics than others.

There are different types?

The ones I know about are elemental like fire, water, and stuff like that. There’s also self enhancing which boosts something of the person casting it like more strength.

What about you? What can you use?

I used to be able to use fire and self enhancing from what I was told. Now though I use a very special type of magic not everyone can use.

Were you tested on as well? Is that why you have special magic now?

Yeah it is. Enough talking once I can learn this body duplication spell I might be able to cut down on our travel time. Get to walking little girl.

Athena walked ahead of Asuma while he kept on trying to learn this magic. Afternoon came by quick and Asuma’s arms were banged up from practicing the spell. Asuma and Athena stopped for they could eat lunch while he also continued to practice. While Athena was eating she looked up at Asuma who was smiling now looking at his arms.

Asuma cast the magic again and the ground next to him lit up with a purple circle with runes in it. Then another him appeared next to him. They both laughed and high fived each other. Dark purple ruins appeared on both the clone and Asuma’s arms and the clone disappeared leaving a small purple smoke cloud. The smoke cloud dispersed quickly and Asuma finished his food he had.

You did it then? Athena asked finishing her food.

Yeah I did.
