Skylar and Walker, Chase and Mason.

    I write this for them.

    Dear Reader:

As with any story, the writer must be inspired or the story would never manifest. This narrative will take you on an adventure into unexplored realms of existence. Although they are very real to me, they may not be so to you, but I am certain you will identify with some of the characters within the story. (Hint: I’m so like Grannie Goodwitch.)

As I sat contemplating the actual manuscript I had just finished writing, it reminded me of Plato’s allegory of the chariot and the two horses. The charioteer (driver) is the narrator, the two horses that pull the chariot are the two sides to the soul or character. The white horse represents the spiritual nature, (the Angelic Kingdom) or the heavenly connection and the dark horse represents the human side, (the Fossilized Forest) or the earthly connection.

In this story, there are no demons or devils or dark apparitions, only angels and witches working together to discover what was happening and why; and a wise Archangel who allowed the solution to manifest itself.

All good stories need a villain or antagonist. Our bad guy or gal, is a very misunderstood sorceress who lives in fear that she is not good enough, so she becomes a bully, a very LOUD bully.

This could be a children’s story (or is it?)  There is no genre for this story. I will just categorize it as Visionary Fiction, which is most of what I write, but the message belongs to us all.

Before you ask, the answer is yes. Love does triumph in the end.

To read this story, you must have a wacky sense of humor and see things from a different perspective. May it enrich your life in a good way and may you laugh and giggle and chuckle and smile.

    The Letter

    CHAPTER ONE

A sweet little cherub angel wearing a wide blue satin sash printed with ‘Magic Mail Service’ in large gold letters, handed the folded letter to Elnora. He smiled showing two dimples, bowed, and accepted the peppermint she handed him in return. As he flew away, Elnora turned the parchment over and examined the seal; blood red wax with a scripted R in the center. Recognizing that letter, she knew immediately who had sent it.

Elnora was tall and willowy with a profusion of thick, dark curls which she never took  the time to pull back into a severe style most Enchantresses wore, she preferred to tie it back with an emerald green ribbon which matched her enormous green eyes fringed with dark, thick lashes.

I wonder what Ravina wants, now, she thought, a tiny wave of annoyance creased her forehead as she slit the seal, and laid the parchment carefully out on her desk, gently smoothing the creases to read the blotched and scrawled writing.

    Elnora, meet me at the

    Brewed Awakening Tea Room

    This afternoon at 3:00 PM

    Urgent!!!

    Ravina

THE BREWED AWAKENING Tea Room was situated on the border of the Angelic Kingdom and the Fossilized Forest, visited mostly by witches, wizards, warlocks and sorcerers. The dingy gray cottage which housed the tea room was shadowed with dead vines which clung relentlessly to its sagging sides giving it a forlorn and gloomy presence.

The windows were so dull with accumulated dirt you couldn’t see in or out. The old window boxes, leaning off their studs, were jammed full of dead flowers. Paint was peeling from the window casings and the once black painted door had faded to a dirty gray. Roof shingles were missing here and there, and a drainpipe had fallen away from its rotted gutter. There was no sign of light in any of the windows. This was not at all the environment Elnora would ever frequent.

She arrived at the appointed time, however, and entered the tea room, her green eyes cautiously scanning the dark dining room. No one was brewing tea, no staff bustling about. There were no customers sitting at any of the small round tables with wilted flowers in chipped vases on the dingy tablecloths.

Ravina, hidden in the shadows, however, was eyeing her prey, waiting to see if Elnora was alone as she entered the tea room. Satisfied, Ravina slid slowly out of the gloom into a dim shaft of light sifting through one of the dirty window panes, a strange look on her face.

A warning bell went off in Elnora’s head.

There you are. What did you want to see me about, Ravina? No formalities, get right to the point.

I thought we could have a li’l chat.

About what? Something isn’t right, her speech is slurred.

I want you to s-stay away from Bart. So that’s what this is all about.

Bart was Charles’ best friend. He’s has been very supportive since my Charles died.

    Nevertheless, s-stay away from him.

He’s only a kind friend, there’s nothing more than that.

Stay away from him—or – or—I’ll put a spell on you.

I don’t think so, Ravina, your spells are useless around me. Elnora waved her hand as if brushing away an uninvited mosquito.

We’ll soon see about that. she spat out, her eyes narrowing to slits.

Why do you always need to prove yourself? Elnora asked, intent on keeping Ravina talking as she evaluated the situation. Ravina certainly wasn’t behaving normally.

You were born a remarkable sorceress. Elnora’s instincts still warning her to tread carefully, You need no more power than that. She moved slowly into the sifted light so she could glance around the darkened room.  So this is where she spends her time. Not surprising

Spoken like a true Enchantress, Elnora. You have no idea what I need or want, Ravina yelled, her unpleasant voice bouncing off the walls of the empty room. She stepped in closer to Elnora, dramatically swinging her robes out around her, face contorted, eyes large, pupils dilated, her breathing more rapid.

I wonder what she took before she came. Probably some Perilous Potion.

Ravina’s temper and resentment simmered just below the surface, fueled by inner emotions, her thinking clouded by anger and bitterness. She fumbled up her voluminous sleeve and yanked out her wand, pointing it straight at Elnora.

One thing I don’t need is you analyzing me or buzzing around my soon to be husband.

Whipping herself into an even more agitated state, Ravina swelled to three times her normal size and let out a huge cackle of laughter.

Perhaps my normal spells won’t work, but this WILL!

Her eyes glazed over as she looked at her wand spitting out red and orange blades of fire. She pointed it at Elnora’s heart releasing the intensity of her fury straight into Elnora’s unprotected body.

Momentarily caught off guard, Elnora felt a piercing pain in her midsection. She doubled over and fell to the floor, deathly pale, her breathing stopped. Ravina moved closer to lean over the now inert body and looked down.

I told you, you have no idea what I n-need or want. What I DON’T want is you meddling in m-my life anymore. She laughed sadistically, It appears that you a-agree.

Licking her finger and thumb, she pinched the end of her wand, slid it back into her sleeve, turned and swayed out of the room, slamming the door loudly behind her.

    CHAPTER TWO

Elnora, wake up. It’s me, Bart. Can you hear me? He felt her pulse. She had been unconscious for too long, and he was growing more concerned by the minute.

Elnora cautiously opened her eyes and looked around. She was in a strange room lying on a strange bed. Bart? What was Bart doing here? Slowly the memory of the scene with Ravina returned. In all her lives, and she had had many, she’d never seen or felt anyone so angry. She recalled that piercing pain slicing through her mid-section. Moaning she tried to get up, but weakness flooded over her. What had Ravina thrown at her? How long had she been here? She needed to get to her baby. She was due for a feeding.

She tried to sit up again as another wave of pain hit her. My baby, I need to protect her, to keep her safe...the thought pounded through her head.

Bart, she whispered, My baby. She tried again to get up. I left her with .....

Shush, Elnora, the baby’s safe. I fetched her right after I carried you here. Drink this, it will help you. He sat beside her on the edge of the bed, helped her sit up and offered the cup. Elnora took a few sips and grimaced.

That tastes terrible, what is it? She pushed the cup away.

A potion to counteract the spell Ravina threw at you.

Nodding, she motioned for the cup, drained its contents, shuddered, handed it back, and slid down into the pillows, looking around. Where is this place? her voice a little stronger now.

My cottage. Ravina never comes here; she thinks it’s a dump.

Bart, how did you know? she asked, her breathing slowly growing stronger.

I knew Ravina was up to something when she rushed through our usual lunch date, so I followed her. I arrived at the tea room just as she ran out the door. She didn’t see me. When she was well out of sight I went in and found you lying on the floor. You’ll be safe here while you get back some of your strength, meanwhile we can make a few plans.

My baby, where is she? panic rising in her. She attempted to sit up again, but fell back, pain washing over her.

She’s sleeping here in this basket. He pointed to a large basket beside the bed, a blue blanket wrapped snugly around the baby. Annabelle fed her just before I picked her up. I told Annabelle you were going to visit some of your in-laws on the other side of the kingdom, and would possibly stay there with them. So we packed the baby’s clothes and her food.

She isn’t safe, here, Bart. Elnora reached out and grabbed Bart’s sleeve. If Ravina thinks she has eliminated me, she won’t stop there. She’ll find my baby and she’ll destroy her, too. Desperately pulling at his arm, she moaned, then fell back on the pillows, I don’t care about me, but the baby, my precious baby, she’s all I have.

"We’ll talk about the baby in a minute. My immediate concern is for you. Charles would expect me to
