    F or those of you who were born in a conventional family household, you’re probably used to hearing your fortune being described as: You’ll graduate from high school, go to college, where you’ll meet the man/woman of your dreams, graduate with Honors, get a job, buy a house, get married, have three kids and a dog. Maybe some of you have an aunt or another adult in your family that strays a little on the love advice, You have to kiss a lot of toads, until you find your frog. But adults usually don’t tell you the truth about sexually explicit relationships. The reality of love for many people involves sleeping around for years, until they find someone that fits the majority of the boxes on their checklist. This so-called catch is usually chosen right around the time that the biological clock starts ticking. But this chapter is not about the winning catch; it’s about the runner uppers. Yeah, I’m talking about your Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, etc.

    What is a hook-up? Well, if you ask mature adults, more than half of them refer to the definition as an informal meeting. Younger people, on the other hand… Well, they don’t disagree with them per se; they would just prefer to throw in the word, sexual at the beginning of that definition. This is because there has been a historical shift throughout our generations. Over the past century, social norms created by peers, psychological attachment, and psychological development, have molded a different perspective of intimacy.
