Decriminalised Futures: An Exhibition for Sex-Positive Change
At GAY TIMES, we seek to uplift and platform marginalised voices from across the community. This encapsulates a variety of communities and identities, including those working in the sex worker industry. Sex workers, pro-sex activists and LGBTQ+ affiliates are often stigmatised for their role of work and contributions to society. Amongst this, women, non-binary, and trans workers face discrimination and mistreatment due to their line of work. In an effort to tackle this and re-educate audiences, the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) is hosting a group exhibition, featuring thirteen international artists, called Decriminalised Futures.
The aim of this presentation is to showcase the multiplicity of contemporary sex worker experiences. Working with the ICA, SWARM (Sex Worker Advocacy and Resistance Movement), a UK-based collective founded and led by sex workers, contributes to the political conversation of the decriminalisation of sex work.
