    Preface

A defining moment in my life, which took place two years ago, is responsible for the birth of this book. It was a turning point in the relationship I have with life. When I found out why I was born I could not keep quiet. I have a strong urge to share my story with everyone to contribute to the shifting of lives from victims of circumstance to victors through experience.

You are about to embark on a journey of rediscovery through this book as you find extraordinary meaning from ordinary circumstances and events. A new world will open up to you, with this book guiding you to take charge of your life.

You know the fullness of time has come when a message keeps you awake at night, so much so that you end up telling strangers about the revelation in your life. Any day later than today would be too late for this book to reach you. The time is now for you to live the life you love.

    Introduction

The journey of this book will engage you as it unfolds from an encounter that gave rise to a view of life informed by an inside-out approach, as seen in chapter one. This chapter signals how two people can look at the same thing and see it differently. Chapter two introduces unexpected ways for you to hear a calling for your purpose. There is power in all of us. The next chapter brings you to an awareness of the power residing inside of you. It is followed by chapter four that covers the source of relationships. The impact of the experiences of early days in life is addressed in chapter five, through personal experiences.

Chapter six turns to unleashing the visionary in you and bringing about the power to live the life you love. The seventh chapter challenges you to reclaim your power through taking charge instead of seeing yourself as a victim. The following chapter deals with listening to the small, soft voice that guides you to take the next step in the direction of your vision. Chapter nine presents the different forms of boundaries and what you can do to overcome them. The final chapter reflects on how a confirmation of a life purpose comes from the universe. Each chapter challenges you to pick a song that you associate with an event to trigger positive feelings.

    Invocation

By the higher power that is the source of who we are, the centre of what we are and the non-judgemental force that propels us to fulfil a life’s purpose, may you be promoted to a higher level of awakening as you read this book. May you find a new revelation to life’s experiences from one chapter to the next. May you live in recognition that your life has a deep meaning and great purpose. I declare and decree realisation of who you are as you reflect on each paragraph of this book.

    You are powerful.

    You are the creator.

You have the power to shift the world.

    Let it be!

    Inside Out

"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you."

    Maya Angelou

Does a fish in the ocean know that it is wet? I am fascinated by this question. This is because the fish may never have been dry. It has never been exposed to a different condition other than being in and surrounded by water. I have become more and more obsessed with this question since my awakening. A specific incident in my life took place which led me to see life differently. It was my defining moment that revealed exactly what I was all about. It was a point that separated the before from the after. I look back at how I had been living life and cannot believe how much time I had wasted instead of doing the work that I was placed here to perform. I have developed an amazing appreciation of life in its entirety. I have reached a phase where I am aware that I have lived life backwards. I acknowledge that there was not even a single mistake in the events that I have gone through. Things are exactly the way they were meant to be and I am simply basking in the lessons presented to me by my own life as well as of those around me.

    Being multi-dimensional

During a reunion of old friends, I was captivated by a conversation between Cecil and Thando. The question from Cecil to Thando was, How are you?

Thando responded, Well, I am in a good space at the moment. I am regaining my figure and getting back into shape after the pregnancy. My level of consciousness keeps increasing day by day. I am happy with my spirituality. The relationship with my husband is growing every day. I just need to be on the lookout because it seems like all the attention is redirected from me to the babies. I am looking into the social aspect of my life as well. Now that the babies are grown, I think that it is time to reach out to friends once again. I have been doing the same work for a few years now and I am looking to change to something more challenging. As satisfied as I am with my financial situation, I am considering venturing into other projects to increase my earning potential and have fun while doing it. I have also registered for a correspondence course just to keep my brain stimulated during the maternity leave period. In a nutshell, I feel that my life is balanced and I am ready to take it to the next level. And you Cecil, how have you been?

Thando’s well-rounded multi-dimensional approach to her response got me thinking. If the question was posed to me, I probably would have spoken endlessly about my career. I began to think about why my response would have been so one-dimensional and superficial. What was I pretending not to know? What had I decided to treat as if it did not exist? Why would I have nothing to tell, or perhaps choose deliberately not to tell, when it came to the other aspects of my life? What was I refusing to deal with? It became evident that I needed to find ‘me’. I needed to enquire into who I was and be authentic about it. I had reached a turning point in my life.

    Connectedness

In 2008, I was employed by an IT company in Sandton. It was here that I met a colleague who soon turned into a friend. We connected at a level that I only understood almost a decade later. Shortly after I joined the company, she lost both parents within the space of a year. I did not know her that well at the time but
