BRAIN FUNCTIONS
Brain.jpgPREFACE
Going to the (ATM) "A Transformed Mind" can be looked at in many different ways. However, my initial description of the title is described in the following way. Going to the (ATM) (A Bank Machine) is similar to going to the inerrant inspired word of God (The Holy Bible).
You see, when we go to the (ATM) and deposit money, it’s the same thing as considering our brains like the (ATM), and then going to God’s inspired word and depositing His fruits of the Spirit, wisdom, and life’s principles into our minds.
Then in the same way when we go to the (ATM) (A Bank Machine) and withdraw money out, it’s the same thing as us going into our minds (A Transformed Mind) and withdrawing out
the things that are not
of God.
Interestingly, spiritual development is the same as a financial transaction. There are credits and debits and there are deposits and withdraws. The receipt
we receive from a bank machine is similar to the receipt of fruit
that is manifested in our life from having A Transformed Mind.
There are very few things as powerful as A Transformed Mind.
Romans 12:2 states, And be not conformed to this world: but be ye Transformed by the renewing of your mind.
All Scriptural references in this book are taken from the (KJV) Kings James Version of the Holy Bible and the (NIV) New International Version of the Holy Bible.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
The person I would like to acknowledge is my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the glorious Son of God. It was through His will, magnificent light, and the desire of The Almighty Father God that I was able to write this book. I can’t tell you enough how God supplied the words for this book. I am so thankful for God’s mercy and His grace.
Jesus Christ is my go to partner. He is the Captain of my ship. He is the Lord of my Salvation. Where would I be if it had not been for the Lord, who was on my side?
INTRODUCTION
God will show up anywhere. When I began to write this book the Lord just kept giving me subject matter. It was amazing! Going to the ATM, Part 1, Making Deposits of Scriptural Enrichment into a Transformed Mind
will witness to everyone whether you are a Christian and a child of God, or whether you haven’t opened your door when Jesus Christ knocked on it. Many pastors, church leaders, and Bible teachers write Christian books so it makes them seem theologically scholarly.
As a Pastoral Counselor and Bible teacher I wrote this book to deal with the real issues that God’s people need to wrap their minds around for internal transformation. Life is a spiritual battle field. And even though life is short, God has the ultimate plan for your life. We as Christians need to hear God’s inspired word right where we are in our lives. So we can readily use it as a shield of protection against the enemy (the devil).
It’s ok to go to church and hear flowery messages that make us feel good. Those type of messages are uplifting for the moment and for the time we sit in the pews. But God’s people need to, Know Who Their Adversary Is,
and why, You Can’t Put God In A Box.
And, other things like health information called, Exercising God’s Temple Is Biblical,
and what is, Real Faith?
I pray that after you read this book it brings you closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I also pray that you become ready to put on the Full Armor Of God, to honor God, uphold His traditional marital order for family, to stand firm, to be strong, to be bold, to be confident, to have courage, to have deep conviction, be self-controlled, be clear minded, being fearless, being zealous, growing in maturity, loving your neighbor as yourself, doing what the Word of God says daily and becoming mentally transformed.
God has a word for you! Look inside!
CHAPTER 1
The Worship Of Idols
Today is a great day! God is absolutely amazing! When we Christians put God first
in our lives, it puts everything into perspective. I woke up this morning with joy in my heart and peace in my spirit. The Lord told me to remind His people, those who are born again Christians, what they should worship and what they shouldn’t worship. God wants all of our focus to be on Him. To God be the glory! Amen.
In today’s society, technology is moving faster than we can keep up with. Many material and physical things are created that make our lives easier and more cluttered at the same time. We may tend to get mentally and physically distracted with these things and depend on them in a way that takes our focus off of the One
who created everything. Today’s message is called The Worship of Idols.
In Ecclesiastes 7:14 the Bible states, When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, a man cannot discover anything about his future.
The Scripture is talking about fortune telling.
God requires us as Christians not to
engage in fortune-telling through psychics or other mediums. The Bible goes on to say in part in Jeremiah 2:5, They followed worthless idols and became worthless themselves.
God was very clear in this Scripture.
In Exodus 23:13 the Bible says, Be careful to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips.
When I was growing up as a child my mother used to send me to the store to play her lottery tickets and buy horoscope reading materials. My mother was not a Christian, and she believed in various Greek mythological notions such as Pandora’s Box.
My mother was very superstitious and believed in things such as not splitting a pole
when two people walked side by side. After I became a Christian I brought my mother a copy of the King James Version of the Holy Bible. She ordered me to, Get that thing out of here.
She was very adamant about what she said and believed.
My maternal grandmother was not a Christian either, and she disregarded the Holy Bible as well. When I broached the conversation about some of the Scriptures in the Bible, my grandmother said with a negative attitude, Why should I believe in the Bible? Man wrote the book.
Interestingly, as the Lord was preparing my walk into His kingdom, He washed away all of my sin, especially the sin that covered me due to my mother’s ungodly
behavior. Can somebody say away with, generational curses?
Amen!
God is awesome! So when I finally gave my life to Christ and was born again God’s orders became crystal clear to me.
In Deuteronomy 18:9-13 the Scripture says:
When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nation there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifice his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or cast spells, or who is a medium or spiritist, or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and because of these detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the Lord your God.
The Book of Deuteronomy has other areas concerning this issue, but I want to bring your attention to the passages in Deuteronomy 4:19 and 5:8-9 because they are very prevalent as well. It states:
And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon, and the stars–all the heavenly array—’do not’ be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the Lord your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
Remember God is a jealous God and wants all of the glory! He says through His Word, I am that I am.
So in Leviticus 20:6 the Bible says, I will set my face against the person who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute himself by following them, and I will cut him off from his people.
Isaiah 44:9-10 states, All who make idols are nothing, and the things they treasure are worthless. Those who would speak up for them are blind; they are ignorant, to their own shame. Who shapes a god and cast an idol, which can profit him nothing.
The book of Isaiah is a huge area as well when referring to worshipping idols. The Lord is clear in Isaiah 47:12-15 when He says that magic spells, sorceries, astrologers, and stargazers are all like stubble that will burn in the fire. Worshiping idols angers God.
It’s another one of those areas He hates. In Jonah 2:8, the Bible says, "Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs. Then in Ezekiel 20:7-8 the Lord said,
And I said to them,
Each of you, get rid of the vile images you have set your eyes on, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt.
The last Scripture in this Bible study comes in part from Jeremiah 8:19, Why have they provoked me to anger with their images, with their worthless foreign Idols?
Remember there are many things that can become an idol in our life. As born again Christians, we must clean up our internal house
and place all of our focus first
on Jesus Christ.
To God be the glory! Amen!
CHAPTER 2
Know Who Your Adversary Is
(Spiritual Warfare)
When I think of the eighteen different countries I have traveled to all around the world, I can’t help but take into consideration the spiritual warfare that got in the way either prior to me going to another country or during my time spent there. I even think about the spiritual warfare that is present right here in my own community.
The Lord put it on my heart to share with you today to, Know Who Your Adversary Is.
Someone out there can use this message because of something they’re going through right now or may go through in the near future.
I like what Pastor Jentezen Franklin says here, The python spirit can pressure you to keep quiet when God wants you to speak up.
Franklin, Jentezen. 2013. The Spirit of Python: Exposing Satan’s Plan to Squeeze the Life Out of You. Lake Mary, FL. Charisma House.
With that said I want to start out in Genesis 3:1-5. The Bible says:
Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?’ The woman said to the serpent, ‘We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,’ but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’
You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.
It is very important to, Know who your adversary is.
In Hebrews 13:6 the Bible says, So we say with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
Spiritual warfare will pop up at any time. That’s why it is very important to be able to discern when evil is present. God did not give us the spirit of fear, so we must stand up and strengthen our internal capacity to resist and rebuke the devil.
In James 4:7 the Bible says, Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Never allow fear to make you hesitant. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7, For God did not give us the spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline.
The devil is always up to no good. Remember in Matthew 4:3-11, Satan tried to tempt Jesus Christ in all the wrong directions. Then in Job 1:6-12, the Bible says that Satan tried to tempt Job as well.
This next Scripture is awesome! The Bible says in Romans 10:19-20, Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I am full of joy over you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil.
In Luke 10:18-19, the Bible states, He replied,
I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you."
Revelation 20:1-3:
And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent who is the devil or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be set free for a short time.
Know who your adversary is!
78481723.jpgCHAPTER 3
What Was Adam Doing in the Garden of Eden?
Let me start by saying that Adam was simply doing what his Father and Creator instructed him to do in the garden. I have heard various pastors preach about the punishment for both Adam and Eve after they disobeyed God and created the fall of man.
I have also heard them preach about the likeliness of gender role reversal with the woman (Eve) giving the forbidden fruit to the man (Adam). I understand the points they were trying to make. But I’m not sure that I agree with those interpretations. Due to the fact that, under normal circumstances there is nothing wrong with a wife feeding her husband a piece of eatable fruit. There is no role reversal there.
In fact, Eve could have fed her husband
Adam all of the fruit in the Garden of Eden to her heart’s desire, as long as she stayed away from the one
forbidden fruit on the Tree of Life.
God only prohibited one
kind of fruit. So there was certainly nothing wrong with that role. All throughout the Old Testament and in modern times, it’s kind of stately royal behavior of a King’s wife to hand feed him at times while he sits in his king’s chair.
Technically, it’s kind of sweet and loving for a man’s wife to hand feed him some fruit (other goodies). Come on now! How many of us Christian men, or some men in general, love for our wives to hand feed us some fruit, or any other food?
In fact, I must say that it’s pretty sexy and sexually stimulating. Let me speak for myself here. When my wife hand feeds me something at the dinner table, I get excited, change the mood, and begin to take the conversation from the dinner table to the bedroom.
Gods holy Word states in Hebrews 13:4 in part, Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled.
Amen!
Adam and his wife Woman/Eve were butt naked together in the Garden of Eden. Imagine that picture. The simple fact that Eve gave her husband Adam a piece of fruit to eat wasn’t a sin. It was just the wrong piece of fruit from the wrong tree that made it a sin.
At the same token, with regards to this role reversal issue, there were various women in the holy Bible who had their own jobs and/or livelihoods that had nothing to do with them being out of God’s Holy order. And, there were some women who gladly contributed via their own means (financial resources) to the ministries of both Jesus Christ and
