About this ebook
Jake Rawkin
Jake Rawkin, ex British soldier, served the Army for seven years, he sustained a back injury resulting in his fi rst book being written during time off duties titled “And so i’ll walk”. Now, no longer serving he continues to devote his time to poetry and philosophy. He spends his time in the hills and along the coast, he remains a countryman at heart. His inspiration comes from everything he sees and experiences and sometimes from putting himself in other peoples positions. He says “poetry has replaced my previous past times, before my injury, I would devote many hours to physical training and activities I loved, I now put more time and effort into using my mind through poetry and philosophising”. Jake presents to you this, his second book of poems. He will be publishing another book of poems later in 2012. But for now enjoy this book, full of ideas that we all can associate ourselves with and about places we could all fi nd ourselves in. If you would like to contact Jake, he would welcome your emails and any thoughts on any poems you have read. jake_rawkin@hotmail.co.uk

And So I’ll Walk
See and be blind
From treasure
Balance
For you
Darker side of my mind
A shield, apart we do not yield
Be your heart
From yourself
Being
Achieved goal and changed for
Anger fuelled
Better to have loved and lost?
Bold and true
From lovers to shudders
Beauty I heard of
Clinging on to letting go
Bleak
All seemed fine
Constricting slowly
Deaths form
Many starts to many ends
A hero
Do not just look at nature
Here
At the bay
First true love
Each second
Cavern of despair
Blue Skies of opportunity
Enable all
Destruction
Parting-Forever this time
Fires of Fury
Destruction from beauties lure
Another ending
Enough of you
Looking for love
Dolorous
Every movement
Never again
Follow our clocks
Freedom
From a glance
Don’t shut off
Inspiration anew
Gives you freedom
Guests
Remember
How do we do?
Eyebrows go up
Attention to beauty
How to woo you…
Forever we may become
I love with real love
Greet me my love
Humanities progression
Put the past behind we are told
I am a _ _ _ _
Moral compass lost one eve
Not today my friend
Falseness
In to the glooming
Mind stopping
People deserve to sing
First romance
Give me peace
How to get to hell
Passing thoughts before a first date
My friend
It comes
How to repay
Long day
Round and round we go
What is, is what is
Fury of love lost
One door closes and Another door opens
My love to a teacher,
Looks like it will rain
My Love burns
Parted
Of our world
Entertainment
Magically we met
Once innocent
Natural balance
One fish for another
Must leave
Our world
Stranger walking in my heart
To sit and stare
Time could be
Page
Let me see her again
The end-to the train—into the frame
Steadfast people
Past
Tackle now
Please don’t say goodbye
Promise to myself
Played
Sat reflecting
Perhaps
Stepping into comfort
Watery love
What is a poem?
Selection given
Sit and Stare
Paths before us
How we should part
To the break
Outside of the world
Sitting and staring
So it is
Reflection
Two lost
Starting
Running to destruction
You drag me down
Tried once, failed forever
Time that suits you my love
To death from devil or from god
Part again
To release
Road back to greatness
Tried
Wrong person or right person?
Which I follow
To wither
Strangers face
Unbeatable
What does it say that I am still here?
Proud
Where I am planted
Never over to me
Wishful thinking perhaps
We’ll have each other
Unite the world
Canoeing
Currents, winds, emotions
Morning
Over Humps
Not the nicest place
Travellers
Bow out
And So I’ll Walk
And so I will walk
Along unknown paths,
And so I will walk
To places I have not been,
To paces I have been,
And so I will walk
Under all weather,
Every weather, I will embrace,
And so I will walk
Because there is nothing else,
Nothing else for me,
And so I will walk
For yesterdays bad to be forgot,
Distancing my presence from my past,
And so I will walk
For nature to be appreciated,
To become appreciated by nature,
And so I will walk
To satisfy my existence,
My existence with my, self.
And so I will walk
Keeping the sea to my side,
Bathing in Earths beauty,
And so I will walk
Knowing not where I will stop,
Nor if I will stop,
And so I will walk
Constantly along with time,
Walking on, letting all things be,
And so I will walk
From the place I left,
To the places I will go,
And so I will walk
Continually, continually,
Vowing to my existence I will,
And so I will walk
For morns to pass me by,
While existing side by side,
And so I will walk
For afts to pass me by,
While existing side by side,
And so I will walk
As eves pass me by,
Existing in each other’s embrace,
And so I will walk
As nights pass me by,
Existing in each other’s embrace,
And so I will walk
To remember,
And to forget,
And so I will walk,
Walk to learn, with freedom,
Freedom for thoughts to fly,
And so I will walk
So I can drink in the air,
Taking it in as remedy to agony,
And so I will walk
Repaying my debts,
Giving thanks for existence,
And so I will walk
