()
About this ebook
Have you ever wanted to pray for your children but been unsure of what or how to pray? Whether its for their salvation, for them to live a godly life and stand firm in what they believe, or for them to stay pure, what better way to pray than using Gods Word?
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:1617 NIV).

Prayers of a Mother - Elizabeth Calhoun
Salvation/New Life in Christ
22257.jpgA S A CHRISTIAN PARENT, my number-one prayer for my children is that they would come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior. Salvation by grace through faith is the foundation of our relationship with Christ, and it’s by and through Him that we have access to God, our Father. My children’s salvation is most important to me, which is why I wrote this chapter first.
Salvation
But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
—1 Thessalonians 5:8–9
Lord, I pray that my children are creatures of day and act like it, and that they walk into the daylight focused and awake, dressed in faith, love, and the hope of salvation. Lord, You didn’t set us up for rejection but for our salvation through our Savior, Jesus Christ. Father, I pray they know and accept that You died for them and Your death gave them life. I pray they speak encouraging words to everyone, building up hope, so no one is left out or left behind. Father, I ask that they always live in the light, ready and watching for Your coming.
Faithful God
For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.
—Psalm 33:4
Lord, I pray that my children know Your Word is right and true and that You’re faithful in all You do. I pray they know and understand Your Word so they can serve You and praise You better and worship You in truth. Father, help me to instill the Scriptures in them, because the better they know Your Word, the better they can praise You.
Life of Victory
He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.
—Psalm 91:15–16
Lord, I pray that my children love You and hold on to You for dear life. Rescue them, protect them, and get them out of any trouble that may come their way. Lord, I also pray they get to know You and trust You, and when they call on You, God, answer them. Be by their sides in the good times and the bad. Father, give them long lives and show them Your salvation. May they not only run to You in times of danger but dwell in Your presence, loving You and realizing that the safest place in the world is under Your shadow, Lord God Almighty.
Weaknesses
This is what the Lord says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go."
—Isaiah 48:17
Father, I pray that You will teach my children how to live right and well and show them what to do and where to go. I also pray that they obey You. Lord, lead them, give them peace, and meet their needs. Father, I know they have weaknesses, and I pray they know that no matter how weak they may be or feel, they should lean on You.
Dead to Sin
Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.
—Romans 6:13–14
Lord, I pray that my children are dead to sin and alive in You and that sin holds no sway in how they live their lives. I pray that they never give sin the time of day and don’t travel in areas connected with their old way of life. I pray they throw their whole hearts and all their time into Your way of living and don’t allow sin to influence them because they’re living in Your freedom. Father, I pray they yield themselves to You because You are the most wonderful master, and the salary You pay lasts forever. May they know You forgive their sins, but You may not stop the consequences of their sins. Father, I pray they realize that the pleasures of sin will never match the wages of sin. Lord, may they realize sin is just not worth it.
Light
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.
—Ephesians 5:8
Lord, I pray my children won’t be in darkness but in Your light and live as children of the light. I also pray that their walks produce spiritual fruit and that they know if they walk in the light, they can’t fellowship with the darkness. Lord, I pray that they always give thanks for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that they follow You and learn to walk in the Spirit and be joyful, thankful, and submissive to You.
Surviving Light
Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe.
—Philippians 2:14–15
Lord, I know You can’t shine through us until You work in us, so I pray that my children let You have Your way. I pray that they do everything promptly and with an upbeat attitude, without fussing or second-guessing, and that they go out into the world as undefiled as a breath of fresh air in this contaminated society, providing people with a view of good living—of You, Father—and are evidence that You are the living God.
Protection
Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
—Psalm 84:10
Lord, I pray that my children know that one day spent in Your house, a wonderful, beautiful place of worship, is better than thousands spent anywhere else. I pray they would rather clean toilets in Your house than be esteemed guests in the castle of sin. Lord, You are a sun and shield and generous in Your gifts and glory, so I ask that nothing good be withheld from them. Lord, I also pray they fully trust in You, and that You always act
