This is an aged, black-and-white photograph of my beloved mother, Olga Hill, in LaGrange, Georgia, in her late twenties.

If I could touch you, my beloved mother,

If I could hear your voice calling my name,

If I could gaze upon your beautiful face,

Everything about you, my beloved mother,

Is a blessing and a pleasure.

May your enduring, heartfelt memories be

eternally cherished in the pages of this book.

    To my

    husband, Charlie Harrison

For your sincere and constant love for my beloved mother

    Let’s not merely say that we love each other;

let us show the truth by our actions.

    About the Author

    Preface

Those who know your name trust in you, for you,

LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.

    —Psalm 9:10 (NIV)

The Holy Spirit guided me to study a few biblical examples in the Bible where God called and used individuals to execute His plan. Some of them were just like me—fearful, faithless, imperfect, inexperienced, and inadequate. He used me in an area that was unfamiliar to me. I peered at my deficiencies and limitations. Do you know how I felt? I was petrified. I contemplated on some of the un- words—unqualified, unschooled, unskilled, and untrained. Does God think like me? No. He was not interested in my credentials, expertise, training, or knowledge. He had a plan. He called me to be a caregiver. I am going to be an amateur caregiver, I thought.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. (Isaiah 55:8 KJV)

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9 KJV)

In my finite mind, I could not comprehend what God was about to do in my life. He had a plan and a purpose.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 KJV)

God took me on an incredible journey with Him. There were no detours, no exits, and no turning back, but there was proceeding forward with my eyes fixed in a steady and focused manner on Him. My path was tedious and complicated at times. During those periods, the Holy Spirit guided me
