About this ebook

Love, if left to the hand of an artist becomes a thing of beauty.

But love, if left to the imagination of a poet becomes the embodiment of humanity.

Wild Flower: A Book of Love Poems
Author

Michael William Worley

Having attended the school of hard knocks and graduated from the university of life I feel I have gained sufficient qualifications to publish my second book of love/life poetry. I have attempted to combine free verse with prose and traditional rhythmical metred verse to convey my deep love of life and the natural world around me. I'm most fortunate to reside in the heart of the English shires amid rolling hills and picturesque villages. A place of tranquil beauty that provides a perfect atmosphere convivial to poetry.

    Dedication

    I dedicate this book to love… .

Love, the inspiration and driving force behind romantic poetry.

Love, that invisible mystery which occupies a place in all our hearts.

Love, that intangible strength that hypnotises the mind and penetrates the soul.

Love, that indefinable magic that blinds the senses but provides those under its spell a glimpse of paradise.

    Acknowledgements

I wish to express my sincere gratitude to my good friends Angela Casey, Ian Costello, Ian Topham and Colin Hargreaves whom have kindly donated a selection of their beautiful photographs, a number of which I have taken great pleasure including in this book.

In addition, I would like to thank my mother for being a constant in my life and for her love, support and humour.

Finally, no one walks alone through this life and I am most fortunate to have an angel walking beside me providing guidance, inspiration and love

    Slow Down

    1.jpg

Life, this rush, a fleeting dream that hurries us from

    birth to death.

    This continuing carousel of confusion,

    wonder, sorrow, enlightenment.

Half ones life spent looking forward with hope,

the other looking back with regret

This fine embroidered weave that links all in time

    through thought, word or deed.

A somnolent overriding emotion of inconsequential transience,

the singularity of our beginning dulled by our obvious

    inevitable end.

This immense craft of nature we call earth that carries us through

cold inhospitable darkness to its final conclusion as does our faith which carries us to ours.

Slow down; absorb the countless pleasures this world offers before death’s door finally closes shut.
