FOREWORD

There is a powerful tide in the spiritual life of the church. There are high tides of spiritual knowledge, revelation, hyper-activities accompanied by incredible miraculous signs and wonders. These are followed by mass conversions from the kingdom of darkness to light and the inevitable increase in church membership around the world. I am certain we are almost at the peak of that in Africa.

Many times in history our great victorious times are followed by the low tides and dark moments, when we as a church go down and lose gained grounds to the enemy. The reason has mostly been associated with lack of obedience to the strategic advice to employ warfare to destroy the high places and altars of darkness-both active and defunct ones-and deal mercilessly with satanic priests who preside over and rebuild these altars. God demands that we remove their symbols, signs, landmarks, photographs, images and tokens so that our children will not be polluted by them. We are supposed to identify the strongman in the neighbourhoods, cities, local government areas, states, tribes and nations; confront them in spiritual warfare and bring such into captivity and under control. This should be whether they be powers in the sun, moon and stars or the thrones in the waters or those evil ones that inhabit trees, altars, and big and small shrines all over our lands. It is in this warfare aspect that the church has failed woefully to effectively handle over the years, around the world. As I travel to the nations I have also discovered that many pastors were not taught and prepared for spiritual warfare in their Bible colleges.

This book explains to you the compelling reasons for spiritual warfare and how to get about it triumphantly. As a frontline spiritual warrior myself, Evang. Onyechi Daniel has worked side by side with me and I know he has rich practical experiences and testimonies, some of which are shared in this book. Introduction to Warfare

Sometime ago, I was preparing a message to preach at a meeting when I received a remarkable revelation on the book of Esther. In Esther chapter 3, the wicked Haman, the enemy of the Jews, obtained a murderous decree against the Jews. And the letters were sent by courier into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to annihilate all the Jews, both young and old, little children and women (Esther 3:13).

When Esther and Mordecai eventually found favour with King Ahasuerus, the murderous decree obtained by Haman could not be revoked because a letter which is written in the king’s name and sealed with the king’s signet ring no one can revoke (Esther 8:8). Not even the king could revoke his decrees-such was the nature of the laws of Medes and Persians. So even when the king asked Queen Esther and Mordecai to write a decree that would favour the Jews, the best they could come up with was a decree empowering the Jews to defend themselves, destroy those who will rise to attack them and to plunder the possessions of such aggressors.

By these letters the king permitted the Jews who were in every city to gather together and protect their lives-to destroy, kill and annihilate all forces of any people or province that would assault them, both little children and women, and to plunder their possessions (Esther 8:11).
