    Preface

Let me give you a typical example in our contemporary world. The world Trade Centre, WTC was built by great minds. The Architects, Engineers and Builders that built this historic edifice are PILLARS in the society. They are constructive, positive and a plus to the world.

However, in September 11, 2001, another group of people caused pain and sorrow to the world without a spark of pity. They brought down the World Trade Centre. These destructive and negative people constituted themselves as CATERPILLARS in the society.

The world has not ceased to nurse these two groups of people: Pillars and Caterpillars. THE CHURCH has enough of these groups of people too. My purpose of writing this book is to make as many believers as possible, world- wide, realize that they can and should be pillars in the church. How to become a pillar and the benefits of being a pillar in the church will be discussed in this volume.

Pillars are carriers. They carry the structure of a building. Pillars prevent collapse. They bear the weight of the building.

Pillars guarantee stability. They hold the entire framework together.

A brief mention of CATERPILLARS will suffice. It is irrelevant to dwell much on this negative, destructive and minus set of people. I will briefly mention their activities and then proceed to talk extensively on the PILLARS. May the Lord make you a PILLAR in the church!

    The Church

The Jews are the children of Israel; every human on earth with Jewish blood running in their veins.

The Gentiles are all other nations on earth. That is, all other nations apart from the Jews. This is referred to as the gentile world.

The Church comprises of those who are born again amongst the Jews and Gentiles. They are the called out ones; called out from the Jews and Gentile world; called out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Apostle Peter describes believers in Christ as lively stones that make up the spiritual house (the body of Christ). The body of Christ; the church is the result of the work of redemption. When Jesus died and resurrected, the church was born; born to accommodate all those who call upon His name, whether Jews or Gentiles.

‘Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ’- 1Peter 2:5.

The church is the beginning of the New Testament. The blood of Jesus was the price; the foundation and the basis of her existence. When Peter made that great revelation of Jesus being the Christ, the son of the living God, Jesus made a resounding
