PREFACE

MAMRE which means grazing land was the main area of habitation for Abraham and his family. It apparently was named after an Amorite (Mamre) who helped Abraham defeat the evil king, Chedorlaomer. Mamre was famous for its oak trees. It was just east of Mamre where Abraham purchased a cave (Machpelah) for a family burial plot. Its location was at Ramet et-Chalil, two miles north of Hebron.

This book is written in accordance with the nature of ‘Mamre’ as a place of sustenance and rescue after the defeat of evil. It also celebrates strength and perseverance after the sting of death.
