Passion for the Soul

About this ebook
Passion for the Soul is a collection
of poems written over a period of several years
and expressing the emotional ups and downs
of author Darius Wallaces life. He began writing poetry as a way to cope with the heartache and pain of his life. His grandmother, whom he lovingly calls mah, provided him with a soft, gentle, and loving side, which is revealed in his writings.
His inspiring poetry reveals his true passion for every soul as he conveys his love for mankind. He explores sadness and pain as uttered in Confused, as well as expresses a hope for love in Beauty of a Princess, all while displaying true, raw emotions in his verses.
I Lied
Through my window older kids were playing football; And Momma told me not to go outside.
But I was young and didnt see the danger; They roughed me up so much I cried.
I sneaked backed in with bruises and a broken arm; And when Momma asked me how I did it
I lied.
She said son I know you want to be a hero; But your life means so much more to Me than your pride. And when youre grown and gone youre going to face the devil; I hope you learn, sometimes youve got to step aside. I hugged my Momma and said I would never leave Her; She looked and smiled because She knew
I lied.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Darius Wallace was born a country boy in Gastonia, NC. His grandmother (which he still calls his mah
to this day), took him in as an infant and became his legal guardian. She raised him, instilling morals and building his character to that of a respectable person. Although they were poor, she spoiled him the best she could. She always told him that he was her favorite child, even though she had raised 7 children prior to him. This inspired him to continue pleasing her with his mannerism and respect for others. When he didn’t listen, she had a belt, or plastic race-track, or extension cord, or hickory switch to correct his deficiencies. Their love for each other is touched upon in his poems, Annie Mae
and I Lied.
His childhood was like most scholastic athletes, whereby he achieved mediocre fame within his hometown. Never in trouble with the law, never drink or smoke, stay away from drugs, maintain decent grades and don’t get any lil girl pregnant unless you can afford babies
were some of the primary rules he had to abide while growing up in Mt. View. As a young lad, his mah
played a major role which greatly influenced his life. He rightfully credits her with his mannerism and respect for his fellow human. He also credits her for informing him that he must get out of Gastonia if he ever wanted to be somebody.
Taking her advice, Darius joined the navy and started a family at a young age. As he grew older and paid closer attention to his marriage, he realized his wife wanted a completely different lifestyle in which he desired. This led to their divorce but not before bringing two children into the world (a boy and a girl). The reason for this break-up, and the divorce process caused Darius more pain than he ever imagined. Luckily, there had been enough influential role models in his life
