    Preface

The Bible says that the eyes of the Lord search the whole earth to show Himself strong to those whose hearts are fully committed to Him (2 Chronicles 16:9). Although I know that because of the grace of God our hearts can be loyal to Him, I could not help but ponder 2 Chronicles 16:9 as I wondered why the living God of the Bible chose me to fulfill this divine assignment. Born a sinner (Psalm 51:5) but saved by God, I am at peace with Him, and spiritually, I am in right standing and prepared to meet Him. To encourage you, but more importantly, to motivate and inspire you spiritually, the following is a brief testimony, in part, of how I came to know Jehovah, the God of the Bible, and how His guidance and hand blessed my life and my journey in completing this book.

My maternal and paternal families obeyed God in that they took their children to church and introduced them to Jesus Christ, and this is how I came to know Jehovah God. I became a child of the God of the Bible, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, when I received by faith His Son, Jesus Christ, at age eleven. When I was nineteen, I recommitted to God and remained in fellowship for a time and came to understand the doctrine of salvation.

For as long as I can remember, I believed there was a God, and at no time did I doubt His existence. Only God could bring to my remembrance the simple faith I had had in Him at age eight, when I would thumb through my mother’s Bible. I erased her name from it and replacing it with my name and the date. God blessed me, years later when I moved from the family home, I was able to take my deceased mother’s Bible with me.

Through the seeds planted by my family and my casually reading the Bible at an early age, I learned, understood, and believed that God created all things (John 1:3, Isaiah 45:12; Psalm 103:19; Colossians 1:16–17) and that He gives life and breath to everything that lives (Genesis 2:7; Job 12:10; Acts 17:25). As I matured in Christ, I was able to grasp the fact that God is Sovereign over all and in control of all things (Job 12:13–25; Psalm 103:19, 135:6) at all times. I also understand that everything God created was for His glory (Isaiah 43:7). This book is for His glory and the uplifting of Jesus Christ. Also for His glory, He has given me the spirit of wisdom and revelation knowledge of Him for such a time as this.

The Holy Spirit has navigated me through this process (Jeremiah 10:23), and the journey has been astounding and surreal. After seasons of faithlessness to God, being afar off, walking the course of the world, and not to mention, in and out of church fellowship over the years, the irreverent way in which I worshipped God had become no longer the norm, - church as usual, whereby hearing God’s truths, professing, God is good, amen and then doing nothing else. I am an active ambassador for the living God of the Bible, and I am not ashamed of my love for our God of hope and everlasting life.

I choose to be humbly committed to God’s kingdom agenda. I am in partnership, a covenant relationship with a great God who has not only saved me but also called, gifted, and provided me the awesome grace to fulfill this ministry of reconciliation for the advancement of His kingdom. My spiritual ears were open to hear His call, and before I finished this book, my spiritual eyes could clearly see that He had called and anointed me to this ordained assignment. As you read it, His calling will speak for itself.

It was on the day the Holy Spirit pierced my spirit with His words in 2 Timothy 2:19–21 that I immediately knew He was telling me to take my salvation and His grace seriously. The following words from God were certainly a mind-staggering and heart-throbbing wake-up call for me.

The Lord knows those who are His, and, Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. (NKJV)

After my personal encounter with the Holy Spirit, I began to ponder the knowledge and truths I had learned about the kingdom of God. I wanted to reflect on the significant good and bad experiences in my life, the tragedy of the death of loved ones and friends, and especially my lack of understanding at that time of why God had allowed my mother to die.

I concluded that I could recall the faithfulness of God in every situation that meant anything to me. I knew without a doubt I had wasted enough time serving satan. Not knowing how or in what way, I wanted to be useful for the Master. As we all must do, I had to make a choice—continue to be in and out of church, serving God my way, or submit to God and serve Him wholeheartedly. When I embraced God’s gift of salvation as an intimate matter—Jesus’ bloodshed suffering, and dying for me, and became emancipated from the legalistic, man-made rules and attitudes taught years before by a certain church, I was determined
