About this ebook

We are living in a time when churches seem to be going different directions in order to appease people and gain numbers. It is my contention that great deception is occurring while the church is asleep. When things get confusing, we tend to look to the world for answers, when we need to look to God for His direction.
This book offers my testimony and experience of what I have seen the church accomplish in hard times, and yet urge the church with a wake-up call to heed the heart of God. We need Gods power back in our churches and with all of my heart, God longs to, once again, manifest his presence.

    Preface

Get ready to be challenged. A Cry After the Heart of God has to be one of the greatest calls for the body of Christ to draw near to the flames of Pentecost and experience His touch.

As an Evangelist with almost thirty years in the ministry, both in the field and pastoring a successful church, it is inspirational for an author, like Thomas Reeves, to be used of God, and call the church to awaken out of her sleep. This book paves a divine road away from worldliness and once again, experience God, in all of His fullness. There remains no reason for the church to draw back, but to come closer to God through His manifested presence. God is calling all believers to draw near to Him and to drink from the river of life.

He attempts to expose Satan, as he discretely waters down the message of Pentecost, and mingles truths with lies. It is time to expose those who claim to be Godly, but deny the power thereof. We indeed need to arise and examine our Pentecostal heritage. This is no time to play church. We, the church, are living in the final days and desperately requires an outpouring of His Holy Spirit.

In conclusion, this volume is for those who are thirsty and desire a closer walk with God. It is imperative for us to experience His power through the Holy Ghost and forever be changed, transformed, and confront Satan’s efforts. The church cannot retreat. Get ready to be challenged in a fresh way.

The intention for A Cry After the Heart of God: One Man’s Journey to Experience God’s Power in Manifestation is to provide an accurate and detailed journey into my lifetime as I have sought to know God in a supernatural manner. God is a supernatural God, and while I do not think that we can live supernaturally every day of our lives, we do bear an opportunity availed to us to see our heavenly Father in a supernatural way and endure on a higher plane of being. This has been purchased and paid for at Calvary, and what Christ did for us at the cross places upon us an opportunity to experience him in ways that the carnal man cannot.

It does not make us super spiritual, nor are we better than anyone else to be lifted up in pride. It is the essence of a servant to seek Him as superior or more specifically our Father, and please Him in whatever means He selects to use us for that day. We have been born for greatness and experience God’s love and presence in a way that any materialistic satisfaction, which is merely for a moment, will shortly fade away.

Our God is the only eternal God. He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. He has afforded to us His presence through the awesome power of the Holy Spirit, and thus we call ourselves Charismatic or Pentecostal. This simply means we have acknowledged the presence and the power of God as the early apostolic church experienced Him on the day of Pentecost.

Jesus imparted to a group of disciples a forewarning. This would include that He would die, be buried, and yet be raised on the third day. What the disciples did not understand as they went about their daily activities and business is that He would not leave us comfortless, but He promised us a comforter would come who would abide with us forever, even the Spirit of truth. John 14:26–27 sums it up like this, But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (KJV).

He appeared to them on the road to Emmaus, and as their testimony of His presence was put so accurately, they said to each other, Didn’t our hearts burn within us as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us (Luke 24:32 NLT).

Let us examine the word burn. The word actually means flame or glow while consuming a material such as coal or wood. Many scriptures use fire to represent the Holy Spirit and his manifestations. According to Benson Commentary from biblehub.com,

This reflection of the disciples, on this affair, is natural and beautiful. It is as if they had said, How strange it is that we should not have discovered him sooner, when we found his discourses have that effect upon us, which was peculiar to his teaching. For did not our very hearts glow within us, with love to God and our Divine Instructors, as well as to the truths which he made known to us by opening the Scriptures? They found the preaching powerful, even when they knew not the preacher; it not only made things of the greatest importance very plain and clear to them, but, together with a divine light, brought a divine warmth into their souls, and kindled therein a holy fire of pious and devout affections: and this they now notice for the confirming of their belief, that it was indeed Jesus himself who had been talking with them all the while.¹

We all understand that there were numerous manifestations of the
