Part One
When you think about famous films, you immediately think of the actors that appeared in them or the directors that made them. You have some sort of image to place the experience of watching the film within. When you watch an advert on TV or see a poster advertising something, you have no idea of who was behind it (who made it). Even though some advertisements are extremely well made, the most important thing is the product, not the people behind the ad campaign. Even though advertising is an art form in a way, people hate to admit it, and feel that it is ‘dirty’ in some way. They feel that it is ‘art for money’ and not for ‘artistic expression’.
Words and Phrases:
Advertising campaign (ad campaign).
Comprehension Questions:
Do people often know the names of the people who made a certain advert?
What is the most important thing in an ad campaign?
Why do some people think that advertising is a ‘dirty’ art form?
Answers:
No, people don’t often know the names of the people who made a certain advert.
The product is the most important thing.
Because adverts are made for money.
Part Two
Today’s business profile is of someone who you’ve probably never even heard of, but you would have seen his work everywhere. David Konner left school at 16
