This book is about a beautiful dream that was real for a short but wonderful time. Just like the photographs in the text the entire book is asnapshot preserving a moment of time and the feeling of thatmoment.Life is just a series of moments and mine in The Land of Green Eyes was magical. It is also a collaboration between two artists and the merging of theirrespectivecreative forces. Each brings something unique and specialto the dream making it a much strongerentity than if presented alone. Therefore, the poems in the book are accompanied byoriginal artistic photographs. Some photographs inspired the poems and some of the poems inspired the photographs.

Myhope is that the reader enjoysseeing and feeling parts of this sweet dream. I know that I loved it so much myself thatI hope to one day return.

Daniel Ontengco

     I have a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of South Florida as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Sociology. I am currently a social worker primarily dealing with abused and neglected children. My work in this field has exposed me to both the very worst and best of human nature.      This is my third offering of poems after having published the 2005 book, Portrait of a View, and the 2006 book, The Heresy of Hearsay.      Collaborating with me on this project is photographer Jessica Lango. She too is a social worker in reference to abused and neglected children. Jessica has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of South Florida where she also studied photography. I am honored to be able to be the first to work with her on such a project.  This is her first offering of original artistic photographs and it is my pleasure to be a part of it.  I would like to dedicate this book to her with much admiration and love.

If only you would walk up the steps.

And ascend far above the surface.

You might then see exactly where you are.

If only you would leave your mind open wide.

You wouldn’t have to extend very far.

Just to see the beautiful land waiting inside.

If only you would climb up the walk way.

And rise above the fray to a new plain.

You might then see that it is you who you save.

If only you would leave your soul open wide.

You may feel the way that you should.

And know that happen anything could.

If only you would look to the present.

And transcend the future and past.

You might then see what it all means.

To love and be happy and be free.

With your heart open wide.

You too can go to the land of green eyes.

So please take a stroll up to this magical place.

Where behind green eyes, life you can fully embrace.
