    Moxie - Claire K. Connelly

    From This Day Forward

Once I read the book Goober, I knew it was my turn.

It was written by my almost good friend, Goober-dog, whom I refer to as Mr. Goober.

I thought that my book might let Mr. Goober realize that I have equal talents as a cat.

It’s all about the difference between woof woof and meow. Without a doubt, meow is a much softer way of communicating.

Not even close! The battle line is drawn between us!

From this day forward, I promise to be a kind and caring friend to Mr. Goober, even though he is a dog and even though he is not very fond of cats, especially me.

Looks like Mr. Goober has company. Uh-oh. Another dog. A big dog. Not sure this is a good day for me to visit!

Hello there, Mr. Goober. So nice to see you again.

I made it with my own little paws. If I had known you had company, I would have made another pillow for Mr. Harley’s chair. Let me just park my bicycle and come on up on your delightful porch.

Here we are, all friendly and cozy. I’m thinking that the pillow looks just fine on this porch. Some things are just meant to go with one another.

How true that is. Dogs are meant to be visiting with dogs, and cats should be off of my porch visiting with other cats.

Mr. Harley, you are one fine-looking dog, and you are so much bigger than Mr. Goober.

Goob and I have been friends for many years. I wrote a book once telling the world about our adventures, and there have been many. I have even been to Paris. Nice meeting you, Moxie.

I think you and I will get along just fine, Mr. Harley. I can tell that you appreciate the finer things in life, having been to Paris and all. Maybe on your next trip we could go along with you. Wouldn’t that be nice, Mr. Goober?
