About this ebook

Once upon a Cloud is the first volume and have 70 pages. The poetry collection is a combination of true events, comical moments, everyday living, and hoping with daily stresses. Each line will make you either cry, laugh, or look back at your life in years. I wrote the collection to help people and myself to understand the positive and negative days of living. Some of the poems have deep meanings of thoughfulness, gratitude, and peace.

A creative poetry book. The book is short, but gives different thoughts to every day living. My first time reading this author book. It was a joy to see how the author connected a little fiction with poetic words.

Once Upon a Cloud - Salene Hill

Doodle’s Entrance

My window lookout is slightly taller, with a lot of sun, and one would think that I resided in the country. I am currently occupied with staring at a leaf blowing across the concrete, outside of the window.

I hear a rattle or ruffle of chips, and my strange taste for sweets and bread. My happy teeth would love to eat a cold piece of cheese. Only a small, colorful bag of treats brings me running downstairs.

These days I wait for my owner to get home from work.  I can’t drive, you see, not with only four paws.  I can only settle for my owner’s mother driving up the road before dark.

Doodles, the Curious Feline

They call me mischievous and sneaky.

For now, what they do not know will not hurt them. I do not have a mirror to stare at myself, but I do believe that I am pretty, cute, and adorable.

My ears are short and elf-like. I have eyes that are yellow some days, and brown when I am resting. The hair that surrounds my body is soft, orange-white, and short.

My legs pounce up and down the stairs and try to run after my toys.

I love to sleep most of the day, and sometimes gather my owner’s doll wigs and threaded spools.  Some years ago, when I was just a little doodles, I found a strange, bouncy object. It was bigger than most or my other toys. I rolled over and under the big ball, and to my surprise, the ball bounced back at me.

Intellectual Doodles

My attitude is taken as pleasant some days and fussy on the other days of the year. I am pretty intelligent. My owner and her mother speak to me with all their smarts, unless they are wanting me to take a bath or get my nails cut. I will fuss sometimes if I have not been rubbed for many hours, or if my owner goes to Macy’s and forgets to buy me a gift. I do love breads, sweets, and some green vegetables. That is different, I know, from most young doodles. But some of my happiest vegetables are sweet peas and potatoes. In our small household, we are called smarty pants.

Doodle’s Adopted Friend

Two years ago, my owner decided to bring home a kitten. I was upset because I was the only doodle in the house. I totally enjoy the 24-hours of attention and kitty playing. It took a moment for me and my adopted friend to really meet. I
