I express the deepest gratitude to my wife and best friend in life, Daphne Bryan Washington, MD, for her commitment, dedication, and love. Daphne puts up with my many hours away from the family while working to maintaining a career of choice. She demonstrates loyalty, honor, and courage; always being my source of motivation at the right moment when it makes the greatest difference.
I must also recognize my mom, Dorothy Louise Washington of Vaughan, Mississippi. I refer to her as the Great Motivator.
As number nine
among her 12 children, she refers to me as the ambitious one
and constantly encourages me to, and I quote, always remember to pray; to look up for the best in life and speak up when you feel the need, as success comes only by standing up for what you believe in and want; always feel that you are the greatest; you’ll never fail.
My mom would say, remember, I am always praying for you and all my kids.
For these reasons and more, my mom made me feel special. In fact, I have never felt less than proud of who I am, where I am from, and for what I have achieved in this season called life.
Every child deserves to feel like a special person and to have a parent or friend that loves them; encourages and motivates them; pressing them to the limits every day to be the best that they can be.
I am certain that my upbringing as a poor Mississippi farm boy has shaped me into the God-fearing
man that I have become today. I also believe that when one loves themselves, they maintain the capacity to love others.
My mother will be remembered by me for the rest of my natural life as the one who never gave up on me
or my ability to beat the odds and experience success. More specifically, my mother would tell me almost daily, and I quote, "You, my son, can do anything that you set your mind to doing and you can do it better than anyone else. I want you to reach for the moon and you may land among the stars." And, you know, I believed her. Now that I am older and wiser, her words of wisdom are priceless. In fact, now-a-days, during my quietest moments, my mom’s soft voice rings loud and clear in my head; saying, You can do it; don’t give up.
I believe in you.
I am always praying for you.
I know that God hears my prayers.
God has bigger things in store for you.
And, finally, my mom would say Never forget your ABCs – Always Be Care.
To all my children, LaPorshia, Wilson III (Tre
), Gregorie (Miguel), Chelsey, Kira, and my step son, Ajani. I love you, forever! Thank You! I will always be grateful for you being there with moral support and for believing in me. Your sacrifices and continuous support have not been unnoticed. Many times, you all helped me overcome fear and find peach in knowing that you had my back. In fact, you have been my rock; my strength, my inspiration, and my reason for living.
Peter Ferdinand Drucker once said, and I quote, the best way to predict the future is to create it.
Well, this is my belief and message of hope. Through my life, this message has been shared by me with my children and grandchildren as I believe it drives creativity and represents one of the key motivations of break-through thinking.
I would also like to thank my friends who stuck with me through thick and thin. You put up with my stories when no one else would. You laughed at me and with me when the jokes were simply not that funny. You looked me square in the eyes and declared that I am supporting you because I believe in you; I believe in your ability; I believe that you have something special to offer society.
In a few words, "you gave me encouragement, when I could only dare to dream; you dreamed with me and saw the vision of how life could be."
In closing, know that God maintains his covenant of protection on us
and will continue to bless all of us as we work together in unity to earn the title of "servant to Him."
Dedications
To my Lord and fountain of hope; my Father in Heaven and my Savior Jesus Christ, I dedicate this first writing to you. Without your blessings, inspiration, spiritual guidance, and grace, this book would not be possible.
To my mother, Dorothy Washington, and my father, Wilson Washington, Sr., thank you for giving me life. You are my rock. Your legacy will live on through me, my children, and my grandchildren’s children. It is through you, I see the value of pure faith. You are my angel; you are our angel of hope. God placed you here so that we may have life; yet, everlasting life only through Christ, our Lord and Savior.
To my wife, Daphne, thank you for putting up with my stubbornness, big ideas and my big dreams. It is always best when we dream together.
To my children, I love you dearly; thanks, for not ever giving up on me. Know that I will never give up on you. Life on this earth is for only a season. I challenge each of you to make it your best season.
To my sister, Barbara and her husband, my Brother-in-law, Norman, you two are my inspiration and continuous support. We have aged together and traveled the world as true friends and family. I love you all. I will always be there for you as you have been there for me. We have been there for each other.
Barb and Norm, as I call them, you have seen me rise and fall; then, rise again, and again. It was comforting to know that when all else failed, you were there to inspire me to look up and get up. This is what I have grown to define as a family bound.
Let not the circle be broken. You are the dearest to my heart and soul. Thank you!
To Gwendolyn (Gwen), my dear sister, it was you that took me into your home at 16 to 18 years old and supported me as if I was your son instead of your younger brother. These were some of the most critical years of my life. For this, I thank you. You have always been there to encourage me through the toughest of times; always on time; without any complaints. It was your belief in my ability to succeed that has made one of the greatest difference in my life. You helped me understand that God is the true answer as we walk by fate. In our darkest moments, we have been there for each other. WE remain in perfect harmony with each other; always willing to help; whether it is with our parents or with a stranger. You can always count on me; I have your back.
To my other 10 siblings from the State of Mississippi, it is with "tears of joy" that I know that God is a powerful and wonderful force that remains at the helm on our ship of life. Having faith in Jesus Christ and serving God with all our hearts, minds, and souls, we will meet around the throne and have a great chance at sharing eternal life together. In fact, the scriptures tell us in Romans 3:3-22; 3:3-25 that:
We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
Romans 3:3-22
God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. Jesus sacrificed his life by shedding his blood; people are made right with God when they believe this.
Romans 3:3-25
I dedicate these teachings to all who read this writing and pray that it will serve as an inspiration to you while helping to break the generational curses that we have long worked to overcome
