    Chapter 1

    GOD:

    THE CONCEPT OF GOD

Who is God? What does God look like?

God created the Heavens and the earth in the very beginning Gen.1:1

The most important questions that human beings have tried to get answered since man became conscious of his existence on earth are: What is God? Who is God? What is the Nature or form of God?

In his search for the understanding of who God is and what the nature of God is, man has come to the realisation of the fact that he cannot name God. The mystery deepens when man tries to understand statements like:

God is in all things and through all things. Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all of us.

For in Him we live and move and have our being, as some of your own wise men have said, for we are his kindred. Acts17:27-28

In trying to understand God, man has created all sorts of pictures, images and concepts, each form suiting his environment. Some have given God the image of man, hence the word God the Father.

While in some other cases God is regarded as having both masculine and feminine personalities as in the Christ Light University. They therefore refer to God as Father Mother God.

But who is God? What is God? Where is God?

Let us examine the nature of God as we try to answer these questions.

As we do this let us start from the synonyms for God which we are familiar with and have used for ages. These synonyms represent the allness of God. They represent the wholeness of God. We need not separate and put God into one form of existence and isolate His existence in another form. We also cannot ascribe to God a quality or activity with one synonym, and recognise His other activity and quality by another synonym. We know God is infinite. And we also know that anything that is infinite cannot be physical.

    God is spirit.

God is a Universal Spiritual Presence. God is an infinite Spiritual Reality. He is Immortal, Eternal, Sovereign, Invisible and True.

In theory, think of God as the Creator. He is the Creator of Paradise and Central Universe of Perfection.

The existence of God can never be proved by scientific experiments or with scientific equipment, neither can His existence be proved by the pure reason of logical deductions. God can be realised only in the realms of human experience; nevertheless, the true concept of God is reasonable to logic, plausible to any hope of personality survival.

The Universal Father never insists on any form of arbitrary recognition, does not demand any formal worship, or slavish service upon the Intelligent Will creatures of the universes.

Men must of themselves- in their own hearts- choose to recognise, love, adore and voluntarily worship Him.

The affectionate dedication of man’s love and will to doing the Father’s will is not only man’s choicest gift to God but man’s only survival mode. That is in fact man’s only possible gift to God and to himself.

In God man lives, moves, and has his being: there is nothing really man can give to God except his love to do the Father’s will.

God is the Universal Father. He is the creator of all things visible, and all things invisible. As the creator, God made the Heavens. He made the planets. These planetary systems were not made in vain. They were made to be inhabited by intelligent creatures of very many different types and nature.

These beings were made by God to know Him, receive God’s grace and affection and love Him in return. God did not create Earth alone as we all know. There are planets visible to man and others, which are not visible to man for now.

God also created things, which are invisible to man, which occupy both Earth and other planets. The Universe of Universes is made by God, is maintained by God and is multiplied by God.

All that God created flow in the energy generated by God’s Spirit.

The creatures, which possess will, whether living on earth or existing on other members of the planetary system, all have one overriding goal. This goal is to become in their local spheres, like God is in Paradise. They want to become perfect. Be therefore Godlike, as beloved children. Ephesians 5:1. Therefore become perfect, just as your Father in Heaven is perfect Matthew 5:48. They want to become supreme like God. Therefore, it is not surprising that when God made man on Earth, He chose to make man in His own image.

In all that God has done in the Universe, there is this one supreme instruction given to all creatures of all the Universes, even to the humans on earth. That supreme mandate is for all creations to be perfect as God Himself is.

This is the Ultimate goal of all the willed creatures created by the perfect God; to acquire the will to attain perfection as God is. God has set this goal for all creation to be perfect- for all willed creatures no Matter in what sphere such creatures exist. This divine command, to be perfect, even as Christ is perfect. Therefore become perfect, just as your Father in Heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:48. I with them and thou with me, that they may become perfected in one; so that the world may know that thou didst send me, and that thou didst love them just as thou didst love me. John 17:23 - is what urges man to engage in the long struggle, making fascinating efforts to attain a higher level of spiritual values.

WHAT NAME DO WE CALL GOD

God has been called various names in various languages – Yahweh, Chukwu, Oluwa…Whatever name God is called would only reflect a mere verbal pronouncement, unless it conveys a sync with your innermost perception. However, when you have truly become God-conscious, after you really discover the majestic creator and begin to experience the realisation of the indwelling presence of the Divine controller, then in accordance with your enlightenment and in accordance with the manner and method by which the divine Sons reveal God, you will find a name for the Universal Father, which will be adequately expressive of your concept of God.

On a planet of sex creatures like earth, in a world where the impulses of parental emotion are inherent in the hearts of its intelligent beings, the term father becomes a very expressive and appropriate name for the eternal God. He is best known and most universally acknowledged on earth as God. The everlasting God, the one who inhabits Eternity.

The name given to Him is of little importance; the significant things are that you should know Him and aspire to be like Him.

Whatever name man gives to God comes from the concept of man.

Every willed creature whether inhabiting Earth or other planets, has been the very nature of God, an unfolding experience with Him, within himself which enables him to form a concept of God. This concept, which is derived from his perception of God is what guides him in calling God whatever name he chooses.

For those whose experience has been that of war, that invisible hand that gave them victory over their enemies is called the Mighty One in Battle. If the experience has been hunger and lack, God is adequately called God the Provider by them.

Whatever man’s experience is with God determines what name he calls God. But in all man’s concepts of God, the names and illustrations of God come to mean the same thing. The central role man perceives God as playing in creature existence, generates in him the concept of God being a universal God.

The name whatsoever we call God is not as important as the realisation of the principle and nature of God. It must be properly understood that the word God will only be revealed to us when we approach It to reveal Itself to us. It is our responsibility to seek the revelation of God’s word. And as we seek, we are knocking. As we knock, it is God’s responsibility to open the door. He must open the door to knowledge for genuine seekers. That is the way it is and it can never be another way. It is His law, made by Himself for us who are Himself. We are only being spiritually lazy by excluding ourselves from contact with God. We are denying ourselves the wonderful gift of God’s realisation and the unquantifiable benefits that come with conscious contact with God when we leave it to the priests, prophets , and those we call the anointed men and women of God, to make contact with God on our behalf. Jesus made it very clear when he told the people, that if they have faith as little as the mustard seed, they would in turn do what He did and even more. He demonstrated this right of every one of us to seek and make direct contact with God, when He said we should abide by His words and be where He is-Heaven. Our societal posturing is not important here. If it was, the Lord would not have chosen common fishermen and the poor in society to move His ministry. He would have chosen those who were highly learned, anointed priests and so on, to do His Father’s work.

Even the priests, the prophets, and the apostles, all preached on our making contact with God. Unless the meaning of the word is made known to us through our own faculties, by our sincere search, we may just be calling the name of God in vain. Your realisation of God must come from within you. God must become so real to you that when you are praying you can feel His presence the way you feel the presence of someone standing in front of you. When you are driving a car, you can feel Him next to you sitting in the passenger’s seat. As you breathe, God must be that air flowing through your nostrils into your body and circulating through your cells.

The same is true of the word Christ. We must not call the word Christ lightly at all. That word has been abused to the point that It is even invoked to support lies. That is very dangerous. Christ is not just the Jesus of two thousand years ago. He is the Word made flesh in Jesus. Christ is a Being. Christ is the light, the power, the divine, and gentle being who we must realise if we must make immortality. He is God the son who is one and the same Presence as the Father. We should take the word Christ to God in prayer and ask the Father to reveal to us this Light of the world. The key has been handed to us since creation. All we need to do is search deep within us to understand what His command is at every situation. And as the word is revealed to us, we must obey. Hearing and not doing is as bad as not seeking to hear at all.

    IS GOD REAL?

Yes, God is real! There are so many times in the life of man when certain calamities occur to him that would prompt him to ask if God really exists. At times humans begin to wonder whether life is not just being controlled by Nature. If that is so, then the question is, what is Nature?

Nature, simply put, is the physical habitat of God. You can see God through all the things He has made. So that they should seek and search after God, and find Him by means of His creations, because He is not far from any one of us. Acts17:27. This means that God’s conduct or action is qualified and provisionally modified by the experimental plans and which are noticed by the advancement or evolutionary patterns of a local universe, constellation, a system or a planet like earth. This means that God acts in accordance with well defined, unchanging and unchallengeable laws throughout the widely spreading master universe; but He modifies the patterns of his actions in response to the needs and conduct of each local universe, constellation, system, or planet, so as to create a balance in their relationship and overall coordination. God makes these modifications in line with the aims, objectives and plans designed for the evolution of that local universe, constellation, system or planet with attention paid to the overall balance within the entire universes.

We therefore see nature as the underlying foundation and the fundamental background of a changeless God and His immutable laws. These laws are modified and fluctuate because of the working of local plans, purposes, conditions and upheavals initiated by desires and attitudes of the local personalities.

Nature therefore came with a uniform, unchanging, majestic, and unimaginable level of perfection from the circle of eternity. According to Genesis 1:31 And God saw everything that He made, and, behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

But in each universe, each planet, each individual life, this nature is modified, qualified, even at times disfigured by the acts, mistakes, perceptions and outright disloyalties of the creatures of that evolving planet.

So as it is on earth, nature can never be accepted to be the adequate expression, the true representation, the faithful portrayal of the all-knowing, all powerful, and infinite God. What we see as nature is the manifestation of incomplete and imperfect outworking, growth, development and progress of a universe experiment in cosmic evolution. The tampering with or modification of nature is not only done by resident personalities and entities, but also by neighbouring planets and other cosmic forces.

After seeing the imperfection and the lowered quality nature has become since coming from eternity, it becomes laughable to see man worship things of nature as God. Nature is not God. It is only an expression of God’s work. Because nature is imperfect does not in any sense mean that God is imperfect, rather it is reflective of a universe endowed with free will to initiate desired changes, whether those changes are right or wrong desires.

Man should never worship nature. You shall have no other gods except me. Exodus 20:3.

When one meditates on the way even what man calls nature works, one can clearly see that there is a huge and an inestimable amount of intelligence at work. So, where did that intelligence come from? God is the first Source. He made all there is in the universes. He is the Divine Spirit, the Divine Truth and the Intelligence. God is at the very centre of eternity and His body permeates all material things.

God is in all things and through all things. Ephesians 4:6. But God is not and can never be a synonym for nature and He is not the law of nature. God brings peace and love. He is not a psychological focalisation of things that are spiritual.

He dwells in man as confirmed by Genesis 6:3: Then the Lord said, My spirit shall not dwell in man forever, because he is flesh….

The fact is that God is Spirit. He is a Universal Spiritual Presence. His existence is demonstrated in human beings by the indwelling, the presence in man, of the Divine presence, the Spirit Monitor sent from Paradise to live in the mortal mind of man and there to assist in evolving the immortal soul of eternal survival. This Spirit Monitor is the Thought Adjuster. This is the Father fragment put in the mind of man. The proofs that the Thought Adjuster lives in the mind of man are:

The intellectual desire to understand God -God Consciousness

The spiritual desire to find God -God seeking

The personality desire to be like God - God’s will.

But the fact that God sent the Spirit Monitors to live in the mortal mind of men does not lessen His ability to do His work as the Divine, all- knowing, all – powerful Spirit Personality. With this distribution of Himself, He is by no means lesser than God who sees all things, knows all things and controls all things.

The Father rules and controls the Universe through His Sons. There are those regarded as the Ascended Beings, who constitute the long chain of rulers ending with those called the Planetary Princes. And through Him were created all things that are in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible; whether imperial thrones or lordships or angelic orders or dominions, all things were in His hand and were created by Him. Colossians 1:16. These rulers direct the evolutionary spheres of God’s very vast universe. But all in all, there is but ONE God, and the Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all of us . Ephesians 4:6. And in Him all things consist.

So, it would be a very great mistake to conceptualise God as human except though in the concept of the indwelling Thought Adjuster. But God cannot be humanised.

God is the Supreme Ruler of the universe of universes. He is the Form, Process, Energy, Pattern, Principle, Presence, Power, and Idealised Reality.

God the Father loves men. God the Son serves men, and God the Spirit inspires the children of the Universe to the ever-ascending adventure of finding God, living by His Grace according His will.

Having looked at these facts then it is
