About this ebook

The author has an inferiority complex. She grew up in a financially poor family with both of her parents, two grandmothers and seven siblings. She was the oldest girl in the family. While she was never mistreated, she was neglected. She had to help with certain farm chores as well as to help with household duties and care for the younger ones. Her dad was very critical of her, now matter how hard she tried to please him. She is very much an introvert and feels uncomfortable in social situations. As a senior citizen today, she wonders why her family doesn't keep in touch with her. She knows that this life is her battle for perfection, and that she must suffer and overcome in order to cross over to the other side. There are times when she finds this difficult and she writes to obtain relief. It seems to work for her.

    My Poetry

    A True Friend

It’ strange your name being June,

My favorite month, always in tune.

Most of my free time was at your house

Even after graduation I was as shy as a mouse.

Mom made a dress for your first, a little girl,

Then the bottom fell out of my world.

    I lost touch with everyone,

With whom I used to have fun.

    I felt humiliated and hurt,

Worse than a snake in the dirt.

It’s taken half a century to undo a fact,

For less than five minutes of an act.

My help has begun with you, June,

    And possibly it’s too soon

To really know if I can bear the cost

With my search for what I lost.

In that moment of time and trial,

In spite of the perpetrator’s denial,

Not only did I lose my family, my team,

But, most importantly, I lost my self-esteem.

I’ve been alone for so many years,

Over half a lifetime, there’ve been many tears.

You led me to believe , people no longer care,

People don’t remember that my life was bare.

I was a victim; I did not sin,

The ones who judge me must give in.

    Our Lord knows the fact,

And doesn’t condemn me for that act.

Those who do, have a problem, too.

My life has been unhappy, lonely and blue,

By renewing a friendship with you,

Maybe, I can acquire self-esteem, too.

It’s been a long and hard life

For me to alone with such strife.

    Your unquestioning acceptance of me

Has led me to accept myself, you see.

You gave me the backing I need,

To seek out those who didn’t heed

The friendship I was asking for,

They’re the ones who closed the door.

    June, I
