New Edinburgh Space Station, Sixth Day Fourth Month, 3000 A.E.
Shanti's first stop of the day was the pantry, where she inquired about her schedule. There was much yet to do, but Mrs. Banks informed Shanti that that the next e-translator installation appointment wasn’t available until three o'clock that afternoon.
Very well,
she said decisively. I shall join Ms. Striker while she recommends candidates. And once they choose, I can join them in the observation room, if this goes as quickly as she anticipates.
The housekeeper nodded. Very well, Ms. Shah. They are likely finished with breakfast. You can try the drawing room or the parlor. They may be in the parlor, as the windows allow you to see into space at this time of day.
She smiled and took her leave. She’d started to get used to the labyrinth of servants corridors, she realized, using them to navigate her way to the headmistress’s parlor. It took ten minutes to find—she got turned around twice in the corridors, but was easily able to backtrack. Once she reached the parlor, she found that the party was indeed there.
Ms. Striker frowned as Shanti entered the room. Aren’t you supposed to be getting your e-translator installed?
Shanti offered a half-smile. The first available appointment is this afternoon. Mrs. Banks advised me where I might find you.
Mr. Oakenspeare smiled.
