In theory, Sandra should have been the only one on checkout duty at that quiet time of the morning. Cheryl was supposed to have been on shelves and Pat should have been in the coffee shop. In reality, Cheryl and Pat had ambled over to stand around Sandra’s till, chatting about what they’d got up to last weekend and what they hoped to get up to next weekend. Until he had walked in.
