About this ebook

Prostitution in mid-18th century Paris is graphically depicted in this explicit novel. Based on the life of French writer Restif de la Bretonne, the novel describes his amorous adventures as a journeyman printer in Paris before he achieved fame as a popular author.
After completing his apprenticeship as a printer in Auxerre, Restif traveled to Paris in late 1755 in order to seek work in his chosen profession.
Not long after his arrival in Paris, Restif succumbed to the licentious temptations of that city, plunging into a life of debauchery. He frequented the streets and alleys where prostitutes plied their trade, and was a regular patron of the city’s many brothels.
One of Restif's favorite haunts of pleasure was Madame La Mace's brothel and he enjoyed many happy hours in the arms of the girls who worked there.
Length of story is over 25,000 words.

Jack Falworth

My name is Jack Falworth and I am fascinated by erotica. Over the years, I have written dozens of erotic stories in my spare time for my own amusement, but it is only recently that I have decided to publish the products of my sex-crazed imagination.I do not aspire to be a 'literary author', and I have, in fact, little respect for so-called literary novels or literary prizes. I consider that the erotic impulse is the most basic of all human impulses, and that it is only works of erotica that fully acknowledge and explore the many diverse facets of this impulse. My first published novel was 'From Virgin to Porn Star', and I have since published several other erotic works. I prefer writing long stories with strong plot lines, and I am constantly seeking new ideas for my stories.I am currently at various stages of developing plots for a number of erotic novels, which I intend to release at regular intervals. Hopefully, these novels will be well received by lovers of erotica.

    FOREWORD

Young Harlots of Paris is an erotic novel inspired by the early life of the 18th century French author, Restif de la Bretonne. Based on his own writings, the book is an unexpurgated account of Restif's amorous adventures during his years as a journeyman printer in Paris before he achieved fame as a writer.

The novel is the second in a series recording the whole career of this controversial author who has been praised by some critics as the founder of realism in French literature and condemned by others as a vile pornographer.

A summary of the most important events in the first volume, The Amorous Apprentice, is provided in the Prologue below.

    PROLOGUE

Nicolas Restif (better known under his nom de plume, Restif de la Bretonne) was born at Sacy in Lower Burgundy, on the 23rd of October, 1734. He was the son of a prosperous farmer, and his father wanted him to become a priest. Unfortunately, Nicolas had no wish to enter the priesthood, and his father had to find some other career for the youth.

In early 1752, Nicolas was apprenticed to Monsieur Fournier, a printer in the provincial town of Auxerre. The young lad spent the next three years there, and he was later to look back on his days in Auxerre as the happiest of his life. The town was full of pretty girls, and the handsome youth was not slow to take advantage of his many opportunities.

Of all the females in Auxerre, the one Nicolas admired most was Madame Fournier, the wife of his employer. She was a tall and graceful blonde, five years older than Nicolas, and held in high regard by all who knew her. She took a kindly interest in the young apprentice, sometimes holding long conversations with him in order to offer him friendly words of counsel.

Nicolas for his part worshipped her as a divine goddess, one who was as beautiful as she was pure. It goes without saying that Nicolas's adoration for Madame Fournier was mingled with the most fervent desire, and he often had to struggle to control himself in her presence.

Eventually he was unable to suppress his lustful feelings any longer, and one fateful afternoon, when they were alone together, he raped Madame Fournier in a fit of reckless passion.

After the deed was done, he was overcome with remorse, and pleaded with Madame Fournier for her forgiveness. Much to Nicolas's relief, the printer's wife forgave her attacker, for she was honest enough to admit to herself that she had encouraged his attentions, and was largely to blame for what had happened.

Nicolas's apprenticeship came to an end in May, 1755, and four months later he left Auxerre to seek work as a journeyman printer in Paris. He was saddened to part with Madame Fournier, but buoyed up by her promise to visit him in the French capital.

    CHAPTER ONE

    Nicolas Arrives in Paris

Nicolas Restif arrived in Paris on the 3rd of September 1755. He spent his first night there in the house of his older half-sister, Marie, who was married to a lawyer, Monsieur Beaucousin.

On the following day, Nicolas went in search of his old comrade, Jean-Pierre Boudard, who had been his fellow apprentice in Auxerre. Boudard had left Auxerre for Paris one year earlier, and was now employed at the Imprimerie Royale, or Royal Printing House.

Boudard had an apartment on the third floor of a lodging house in the Rue des Poulies. Nicolas knocked on the door, and a few moments later, it was opened by his friend.

Nicolas, this is a surprise! cried Boudard, welcoming him warmly. When did you arrive in Paris?

Yesterday. I spent last night at my sister's house, and I've come here to seek your assistance in finding work.

Please come in. I'm only too happy to help you in any way I can.

When the two of them were seated at a table, sharing a bottle of wine, Boudard said, "I am sure some work is available at the Imprimerie Royale for a journeyman printer like yourself. I'll check and let you know. In the meantime, I expect that you are looking for some lodgings."

    Yes, I am.

You're welcome to stay here, Nicolas, so long as you're prepared to share the rent.

Your offer is much appreciated, Jean-Pierre. I'll go and collect my bags from my sister's house, and move in right away.

On the 10th of September, as a result of his friend's efforts, Nicolas was given temporary employment at the printing house, and on the 22nd of September, Boudard informed Nicolas that he had succeeded in procuring him a permanent place. Nicolas was delighted at the news, and thanked Boudard profusely for his kindness.

    CHAPTER TWO

    Nicolas's First Prostitute

At first, Nicolas was overawed by the great metropolis of Paris, but he soon became familiar with his new surroundings, and after a few months he was able to find his way around the city without too much trouble. Being naturally of a lecherous disposition, he was delighted to discover that the French capital was full of young harlots who were willing to sell their sexual favors for money.

Nicolas's first encounter with one of these ladies occurred on the 11th of January, 1756. She was a common street-walker, one of the many lower class girls of Paris who had been driven into prostitution by economic hardship.

Nicolas had just been to the theatre to see a play, and he was walking along a narrow street on his way back to his lodgings when he saw a number of young females leaning against lamp posts or promenading up and down.

One girl in particular caught Restif's attention. She was little brunette and could not have been more than eighteen years old. Nicolas's prick started to swell and stiffen inside his breeches as he gazed at the girl.

Are you looking for some fun, Monsieur? she asked. "I'll give you a
