About this ebook

Based on the life of French author Restif de la Bretonne, this is the third volume in a series of novels recording the whole course of his remarkable career.
A printer by trade, Restif was to achieve fame as a popular author, and his literary works were largely based on the events of his own life.
"Wanton Whores" is a sequel to "Young Harlots of Paris" and describes more of Restif's amorous adventures as a young man. The number of his conquests is quite astonishing, and in his memoirs written many years later, Restif offered the following explanation:
"It occurs to me that people will wonder—How did I manage to have so many adventures? How did I win my way into the affections of so many pretty girls? Reader, the answer is simple—I had but one passion, and sacrificed all others to it!"
Length of story is over 22,000 words.

Jack Falworth

My name is Jack Falworth and I am fascinated by erotica. Over the years, I have written dozens of erotic stories in my spare time for my own amusement, but it is only recently that I have decided to publish the products of my sex-crazed imagination.I do not aspire to be a 'literary author', and I have, in fact, little respect for so-called literary novels or literary prizes. I consider that the erotic impulse is the most basic of all human impulses, and that it is only works of erotica that fully acknowledge and explore the many diverse facets of this impulse. My first published novel was 'From Virgin to Porn Star', and I have since published several other erotic works. I prefer writing long stories with strong plot lines, and I am constantly seeking new ideas for my stories.I am currently at various stages of developing plots for a number of erotic novels, which I intend to release at regular intervals. Hopefully, these novels will be well received by lovers of erotica.

    FOREWORD

Wanton Whores is an erotic novel inspired by the early life of the 18th century French author, Restif de la Bretonne. The novel is the third in a series about Restif, and will be followed by other volumes recording the whole career of this licentious author who is praised by some critics as the founder of realism in French literature, and condemned by others as a vile pornographer.

The first two volumes in the series are: The Amorous Apprentice and Young Harlots of Paris. A brief summary of the contents of these two volumes is provided in the Prologue to the present volume.

    PROLOGUE

Nicolas Restif de la Bretonne was born at Sacy, a village near Auxerre in Lower Burgundy, on the 23rd of October, 1734. The son of a prosperous farmer, he was to grow up to become one of the most original and controversial French writers of the eighteenth century.

At the age of eighteen, he was apprenticed to Monsieur Fournier, a printer in Auxerre. The young lad spent the next three years there, and he was later to look back on his days in Auxerre as the happiest of his life. The town was full of pretty girls, and the handsome youth was not slow to take advantage of his many opportunities.

Restif's apprenticeship came to an end in May, 1755, and four months later he left for Paris to seek work as a journeyman printer. He initially found employment at the Imprimerie Royale, but in early 1756, he obtained a better paid position with Claude Herissant in the Rue Notre Dame, staying with that printer for several years.

Not long after his arrival in Paris, Restif succumbed to the licentious temptations of that city, plunging into a life of debauchery. He frequented the streets and alleys where prostitutes plied their trade, and was a regular patron of the city's many brothels.

In addition to paying for the favors of prostitutes, Restif was also able to charm his way into the beds of an astonishing number of chambermaids, shop girls and young actresses. All of these conquests were faithfully recorded by Restif in his journal, as he prided himself on his prowess as a lover.

    CHAPTER ONE

    A Reigning Stage Beauty

Mademoiselle Esme de Ravin was the most beautiful actress of the Francais Theatre. One night in early May, 1757, Nicolas Restif saw her perform on stage in the play, La Pupille, and he fell hopelessly in love with her. In the weeks that followed, he attended almost every performance of the play in order to feast his eyes on her beauty.

He used to wait outside the theatre, to see her at a close distance, marveling at her waist, her ravishing face and her dainty foot. He would watch her get into her carriage or sedan chair and then follow her to see her get out of it again.

One evening, he followed her to the Hotel de Hollande, where a party was being held. While Nicolas was watching the beautiful actress descend from her sedan chair into the courtyard, he heard a familiar voice exclaim behind him:

Nicolas! What are you doing here?

He turned around and saw Mlle Junie Prudhomme, the young actress from the Opera Comique whom he had fucked several months earlier in the Bois de Boulogne.

Hello, Junie. Have you been invited to this party? Nicolas asked. If you have, I would be much obliged if you would allow me to accompany you. I am a great admirer of Mlle Esme de Ravin and want very much to meet her. Perhaps you could introduce me.

I shall be happy to take you inside with me, replied Junie. If I get a chance, I will certainly introduce you to her.

Having said this, the young actress clasped Nicolas's hand in her own, and they followed the beautiful de Ravin up the stairs to a large anteroom.

As things turned out, Nicolas made the acquaintance of the reigning beauty of the Parisian stage without any help from Junie.

The young printer could not stop staring at Mlle de Ravin, and a Colonel of Dragoons, who was standing beside the actress, pointed him out to her.

Mademoiselle, I do believe that young man has taken a fancy to you!

Later that evening, Nicolas was to learn that the military officer was Colonel Mordaunt, one of the deadliest swordsmen in France and Mlle de Ravin's current lover. The Colonel had already killed three men in duels over the actress.

Mlle de Ravin looked at Nicolas, and remembered that she had often seen him in the front row of many of her stage performances. As Nicolas had just come from the theatre, he was well dressed in a fashionable suit.

The actress approached Nicolas, holding her hand out to him.

Monsieur, I see you are with Mlle Prudhomme, she said. Are you a fellow actor?

Mlle Prudhomme was kind enough to bring me, he replied. "No, I am not an actor, merely a devoted admirer. I am enchanted to meet you in person after having seen you perform so many
