The company farm pickup pulls up in front of our assigned house. One of the farm hands approaches the door and since it is Friday afternoon, I already know what it is all about.

Good afternoon Mam, I have been instructed to tell you that you and your oldest daughter are to be at the main house in two hours. I am also to tell you that it is for the entire weekend.

Since Jill, my eighteen-year-old is required to work the fields, I ask the farmhand if he would please find her and send her home.

My name is Tracy Fielding and I am married to Frank for twenty-three years. We have two children, Ann who is eleven and Jill who is eighteen. Frank is a wonderful man who has struggled to provide for our family but times have changed. Global warming, financial collapse, drought, and many other factors have created a situation where local farms now support small towns. Large cities are virtually abandoned. A few wealthy people ceased on the opportunity to purchase large tracks of land. They then divided the land into smaller farms and hired family’s to work them as sharecroppers.

After several years of near starvation, my family was fortunate to be hired by The Hanging Tree Farm. The requirements were simple, we live off a small percentage on the crops and livestock we grow and raise. The rest belong to the corporation. All members of the family over eighteen are required to work the land while the rest attended school until they reach the proper age. In addition, any female family member over eighteen is subject to mandatory attendance at the main house whenever summoned. Just a fancy way to say to provide sex for the owners family or guest of the owner. Not an ideal situation for our family, particularly for Frank. The entire family decided it was either face starvation or agree to the terms.

Jill enters the back door covered with dust.

Hurry up and shower, the farm van will be here in an hour to pick us up, I say as I help her undress. She is a beautiful girl with short brown hair, tanned skin from being out in the sun working, and beautifully shaped body. Standing five feet seven inches with body measurements of 42B x 22 x 38 she definitely turns farm hands heads when she walks by. Her narrow shaped face makes her gray eyes stand out.

Stripping my own clothes I join her in the shower. Water being so scarce we take showers together to conserve.

I am a little taller than Jill with the same short brown hair but with blue eyes. I am thirty-nine years of age with body measurements of 46D x 28 x 42. My body is in pretty good shape for my age although my breast have some sag from childbirth. I was forced to breastfeed both girls until they were ten years of age because of the drought. In fact, I am still with milk which at times comes in handy for all of us when the well goes dry.

I am not required to work the fields thus allowing me plenty of time to use the automatic milking machine every six hours. The milk I produce is used in cooking and on occasions is required to be sent to the main house for their consumption. I have been known to use it to barter with some of the other sharecroppers family.
