Learn to Love Yourself - 50minutes
Problem: when your self-image is poor, learning to love yourself can seem particularly difficult. How can you silence your inner critic and believe that you deserve to feel comfortable in your own skin and be happy?
Aim: to feel better about yourself and other people.
Talking about loving ourselves can feel embarrassing: we are not used to doing it and we are quick to conflate it with narcissism. However, knowing how to appreciate yourself does not mean being self-obsessed, thinking that you are perfect or thinking that you are better than other people. Loving yourself means treating yourself with respect and kindness. First of all, it means accepting yourself and recognising both your strengths and your weaknesses.
We often tend to neglect our self-image, and may put ourselves down without even realising it. Moreover, we find it a lot easier to point out our flaws than to highlight our strengths. However, self-esteem allows us to become aware of our value and our abilities. It is what enables us to make progress, overcome challenges, thrive and get what we want.
Focusing on yourself also does not mean shutting out other people – quite the opposite, in fact! Having a good relationship with ourselves allows us to treat others better as well. Imagine yourself as a house, with its walls, floors, the layout of the rooms, décor, furnishings, and so on. If you take care of it and try to make it warm, comfortable and practical, not only will you be happier there, but your guests will also enjoy the atmosphere. It is your house: you should feel safe and at home there. What is more, the better care you take of it, the more comfortable
