WAITER in a fast food shop.
MOVEMENT ONE
(In the hospital, ELVIS and ADANNA are discussing with their family doctor JOEL).
ELVIS: We’re sorry, we couldn’t make it yesterday.
JOEL: I waited for you.
ADANNA: We’re sorry doctor. We had a board meeting yesterday and it took longer than we expected.
JOEL: There is no problem. (He leaves his seat to a metal locker, collects a file and comes back to his seat. Opens the file and looks at it for a while) the test result is very encouraging. (Turns to ADANNA) All the tissues blocking your fallopian tube are gone.
ADANNA: (Rubbing her palms prayerfully) Thank you Jesus.
JOEL: I have no doubt that there’ll be a conception within three months.
ELVIS: Really?
JOEL: I’m ninety percent sure of that. But, I’m going to change her drugs. (Tears out a piece of paper, writes on it and gives it to ADANNA). You’ll get it at the pharmacy.
ADANNA: (Looking at the piece of paper). It‘ll be taken once daily.
JOEL: Yes. Please, it’s very important, because if you take more than a tablet for a day, it could damage your eardrum. (ELVIS and ADANNA fix their eyes on JOEL) Yes, so you must be careful.
ELVIS: Thank you doctor. I’ll ensure that she follows your directives.
ADANNA: We’re very grateful doc.
JOEL: It’s my pleasure.
(They stand up; shake hands ELVIS and ADANNA leave).
(Exeunt)
MOVEMENT TWO
(ELVIS is reading a newspaper in his living room with his legs crossed. The door bell rings)
ELVIS: Who’s that? (He drops the newspaper on the centre table, walks to the door and opens it) Ah! Mama, you’re welcome. (He collects EUNICE’ bags in both hands while
