    Foreword

    The digital world asks our true identity from us all the time. We are asked to tell whether we really are what we are. Hence the verification words that are used in blogs and other on-line media: we are asked to read a word and type it into a small box, before we are allowed to post a comment on a blog post. This of course has nothing to do with our true identity. 

    But the word verification words have become a literature of their own, something one might call literature of the robot. (At least it is one subgenre of that vast area of unhitherto little documented literature.) Various blog platforms, such as Blogger and Wordpress, have been offering very inventive word verification words during the past two or three years, and several people have been thinking about collecting them between the covers.
