Workplace romance or workplace romp. Somewhere in my mind, I’m trying to make that distinction where I stand with her. My desk sits right across to our Human Resources Manager, Louisa Carter Batten. The distance I measured is 25 paces. Her desk is angled slightly so I see her sexy face and the upper half of her beautiful body. She leans into the monitor to examine something and her breasts squeezed together. The valley between them, makes me lick my lips. She turns to face me. God damn, she’s beautiful.

She peers at her watch. She flicks back her dark brown hair styled in graduated long layers that start from the chin. A style I recommended, because she’s conscious of her strong jaw. Which I might add is her most adorable feature along with her defined cheekbones. Her smooth milky skin, the past memories of me running my hands all over her body. To my lips pressing on the cute mole on the side of her inner left thigh. God, I want her… I look around and no one is watching, the excitement of getting caught arouses me. I want her now…

    I smile and wink.

    She rolls her eyes.

I lick my lips. Then blow a kiss.

She leans back. Staring for a moment. Frowning. Her green eyes with the light brown inner rings start to squint.

I raise my left palm covering one side of my face. I stare back.

    Kit!

I hold my pose. I swivel my chair around holding my palm. I see my boss Sherie Southam, the blonde. The matriarch. The bossy boots. Yes, I could go on…

Sherie said. What the hell are you doing?

I hold the pose still. I’m going to give you a scenario. Say I meet you at the Reilly Tavern and I hit on you looking like this... I talk to you the whole night not removing my hand would you go out with me?

Sherie cringes, No, and not because of the hand. I like my men to have a bit of meat on them.

    Like Jared.

Her eyes widen, Yes. Like Jared.

I lower my hand, Don’t you get sick of seeing him at work every day?

    No.

I sit back, shaking my head. People would never know that you are dating by the way you both act.

We agreed to keep things professional. I’m not the kissy kissy smoochy smooch hand holding girl. I hate public displays of affection. Ugh…

Wow sucks to be Jared. I sigh, You really are heartless.

No, I’m just not that type. She points behind me, If you want to know what heartless is, that bitch over there is. I turn and see Louisa talk with Clive McKenzie and Bob Parker. They’ve been in meetings all week with her.

    What about?

Not sure, but Marjorie our resident gossip queen, slash receptionist might be able to shine some light on the situation. I’m going to chat with her. She says, Hey, have you finished the rebates yet?

    No.

Her brow furrowed. I think the wrinkle between her eyebrows is getting worse since working under her. Why?

C’mon Sherie. Why do I have to do it? I didn’t go to university to graduate to this shit.

Kit. You have to learn from the ground up and rebates are an important function of our business. That’s what I hate about your generation always wanting things now. You guys don’t want to do the hard yards like I did. Not wanting to do the work that they feel is beneath them.

And the coffees, I have to make for your meetings. I say, Explain that?

She blinks repeatedly, Well, I do offer you the opportunity to sit in them. So that you can learn, using your ears to listen. That’s why God gave you two of them.

I roll my eyes, Yeah. Learn how to make a good cup of tea and coffee. C’mon Sherie what’s the point of being a junior account manager, if I’m not going to be selling?

    You already have accounts.

I want more so I don’t have to do this bullshit.

She shrugs then sighs, Then quit. Find another job. No one is indispensable. Remember you were selected out of 60 applicants that applied for your job. That should give you an idea of the job market right now.

I swallow, I take the next paper from the in-tray, Man Sherie, I love rebates! I say, I wake up early for this shit!

She shakes her head chuckling and she headed off to reception. I continue with my work when I receive a message on my phone. It’s from Louisa. Her code name I gave her is Sexy Siren. I look up and she staring at her phone while Bob and Clive are sitting on the office sofa, going over a document on the table in front of them.

    Sexy Siren: Come over tonight?

    Me: What time?

    Sexy Siren: 11pm.

    Me: It’s a
