About this ebook

Having recently graduated from college, Jennifer Adams was excited to start her career as a event planner and moved to Toronto to have more opportunity in the entertainment industry. She had always loved planning elaborate events and she was good at it. It also didn't hurt her chosen career that she had a minor in dance. She was looking to expand this career into something amazing. At then, at one of her first events, she met Kelvin.

Tall, handsome and rich, Kelvin Prescott was immediately smitten by Jennifer, and he pursued her hard and passionately, swooping her off to exciting destinations and plying her with expensive gifts. But he was also sweet, and kind, and generous.

When Jennifer discovers she is pregnant, Kelvin is quick to propose, and their four-month love affair turns into an engagement blossoming in love. But immediately after the wedding, things change. Kelvin changes.

Taken off guard by the severeness of Kelvin's new personality and his possessiveness over Jennifer, she is sure that the stress of the quick wedding and the baby on the way has had a negative impact on Kelvin. But she is just as positive that when their baby is born, everything will be fine…better. It's not.

All alone in a city she is new to, can Jennifer take a stance for her baby and her own life? Or is she too afraid to even try?

"In Love with the Enemy" is the Prequel to the series "Secrets of Powell River Inlet Resort", A West Coast Mysteries Series where everyone has a secret that they are keeping from everyone else, and they would really like to forget. In love, everyone deserves a fresh beginning – but will they get it?

    Chapter One

I stand here nervously, anxiously biting the side of my cheek. My tummy rumbles, and I feel a slight blush coming on my cheek. The stranger passing by gives me a look before moving on. It is a beautiful day. The sun is shining high in the sky, the wind is cool and soothing, and the air is filled with the scent of spring.

The venue itself is gorgeous. I had been working on this project for weeks now, and I have to admit, I am quite happy with how it turned out. The garden might be small, but I have made the best use of the space. In the corner, I have placed the refreshment table, which is now covered in assortment of hors d’oeuvres, caviar and champagne glasses. The tables are all decorated with a combination of flowers I’ve spent two days deciding on, and the background behind the stage fits in perfectly with the décor. The event has turned out better than I had imagined, and I am glad that Sofia has had nothing but praises for it. What a relief.

After all, this is my first event since college. Event planning has always been one of my passions. I’ve dreamed about it since I was a little girl, and when I had entered college, I had known exactly what to do. I still can’t believe, though, that I have been lucky enough to land a high-profile gig so soon out of college. And not only that, but it has turned out to be everything I had ever imagined it would be. The event is in full swing. The place is filled with elite people socializing with each other and apparently having a wonderful time. They seemed to be enjoying the food as well, which is definitely a plus. For the first time in days, I allow myself to breathe and just relax. I have done what I had set out to do. A little satisfied smile spreads across my lips, and I close my eyes to just enjoy the feel of the breeze on my face.

You look so peaceful I am almost afraid to interrupt you, a deep voice says.

I open my eyes and snap my head around to see who is speaking. My eyes meet a pair of green ones, and I am instantly frozen in place. There is something about the spark in those eyes that roots me in
