About this ebook

Blurb

Brittany Reynolds was smart, curvy and naïve as hell when it came to men. All through life she seemed to always pick the wrong ones to fall for. While working at the jailhouse as a nurse, she never expected to have feelings for an inmate who was under her care while in the infirmary. Now that she was working the job of her dreams as a reputable nurse at the local hospital, she never imagined crossing paths with the handsome inmate she’d last seen over a year ago. And to make matters worse, he had a friend who was equally sexy and pining for her attention.

Killian and Burke had been best friends since they were young, two roughneck kids growing up on the street and trying to keep themselves out of trouble. They did everything together—surviving the streets, sharing their women and even joining an MC together. Because of one bad decision, Killian had no choice but to serve time in jail. That’s where he met the lush blonde who he couldn’t seem to get his mind off after all this time. After Burke was in a serious bar fight that landed him in the nearby hospital ER, Killian never imagined running into the woman who’d nursed his wounds while he was serving time. Burke knew of Killian’s obsession with the nurse, but when he saw her for himself in the hospital, he found himself just as smitten.

Brittany can no longer deny her attraction to Burke and Killian, two greedy bastards who will stop at nothing to make the naughty little nurse theirs.

    Chapter One

    ––––––––

In school Brittany Reynolds had always been the shy girl who kept to herself, but once she started high school she became popular and had lots of friends. Even though she had the attention of all the boys in school, none of them ever appealed to her, dating-wise. School had always taken priority over her social life. Her goal in life was to become a nurse just as her mother had been. Brittany’s parents were extremely proud of her when she graduated class valedictorian and decided to pursue her dream in the medical field, following in her parents’ lead.

Her father was a surgical doctor for over thirty years before he retired following the death of Brittany’s mother. And her uncle Bob still worked as a doctor in the county jailhouse.

After following her dream and pursuing a nursing degree, Brittany worked in numerous community hospitals, waiting for the right opportunity to present itself. She loved helping others in need. She prayed every night before bed for God’s assistance in helping the sick. If there were more caring people in the world, there would be more lives to save. There was no greater gift than knowing someone would live a longer life because of you.

When Brittany was younger, she played doctor with all her dolls and the animals they’d had, wrapping their heads with her father’s gauze and tape from his medical bag or putting Band-Aids on their fake boo-boos. On her fourteenth birthday her father gifted her with her very own stethoscope. Normally a fourteen-year-old would prefer clothes or even make-up—but not her. It was the greatest birthday gift she had ever received.

Brittany... hello... Sam waved her hands in her face, trying to get her attention.

Brittany took a deep breath. Sorry. I was just thinking about when my dad gave me my first stethoscope. Her hand still lingered on the stethoscope her father had gifted her ten years before. When she’d graduated from nursing school, her father had tried to give her a new one. She’d thanked him, saying this one had significant meaning to her and she felt it brought her good luck whenever she wore it. She could never imagine replacing her first stethoscope, even for a newer model.

Sam closed her locker and then picked up her coffee cup from the bench beside Brittany. You miss him, huh? Her back sagged against the closed locker as she waited for Brittany to answer. The two had been close friends since Brittany’s first day at Mercy Hospital, when Sam helped her to get to know the hospital and the resident doctors and staff she would be working alongside. She was the only friend Brittany had time for. The hospital took up so much of her time that when she did finally have a day off, she was too tired to do anything more than laundry and sleep. She loved her job, but there was no denying it was strenuous and exhausting.

Brittany’s hand dropped from the cool metal beneath her touch. She tied her long blonde hair in a tight bun at the top of her head. Yes. I wish I could see him more. The holidays just don’t seem like enough time for he and I to visit one another. Sam knew she was close to her father and was sad the day he moved halfway across the U.S.

Sam smiled at her. It was obvious in the softening of her pretty green eyes that Sam felt sorry for her. But Brittany never wanted anyone to feel pity for her. In this line of work, you never showed weakness to anyone. Weakness lead to vulnerability and vulnerability led to carelessness. They had to be on their toes at all times, leaving no room for mistakes.

I’ll see you out there. Sam nodded as she shrugged on her white coat over her blue scrubs.

I’ll be out in a minute.

Brittany heard Sam open and close the door to the locker room as she stood from the wooden bench and stretched her neck from side to side. There was such a rush in knowing that because of her, a person could go on with their life. Not many knew this about her, but Brittany was as sensitive as they came. Sure, she came off as a hard-ass nurse who was good at her job and had worked her ass off to get where she was today, even graduating first in her class. She worked hard, never complaining to her superiors when they asked her to work overtime, especially when she felt as though she was at her limit, wanting to cry from a mental breakdown.

She wasn’t perfect; she had needs just as everyone else did. A woman couldn’t rely on her trusty vibrator and toys alone. Sometimes she felt urges, urges that led her to crave the touch and feel of a man deep inside her weeping pussy. It had been a long time since anyone made her feel alive inside. Not since the day she’d last seen Killian.

Seeing Killian the other night in the ER brought back all the feelings she’d ever had for him. She figured she would keep herself busy once she left the jail and started working at Mercy General Hospital. She left herself no room to think about him in her busy life. Brittany knew it was wrong of her to have feelings for an inmate, and she was happy when her Uncle Bob’s nurse came back and her help was no longer needed at the county jail. She could never tell her uncle no; he reminded her too much of her father.

What she never expected was to step foot inside the jail and meet someone like Killian and somehow fall head over heels. Good thing her uncle’s nurse returned sooner than she expected; she couldn’t bear to look at Killian’s handsome rugged face any longer—he was so different than any other man she had ever dated. There was something about his confidence—the man oozed sex. He was the kind of man who haunts your dreams after only one encounter. He was a criminal and she was his nurse. They could never have a future, no matter how much she wanted him.

The last time she saw Killian was one of the fondest memories of her life.

Brittany stepped into the infirmary after her uncle had given her the inmate’s file. It wasn’t that she was nervous working in a jail. The knowledge that killers were walking in and out of her infirmary didn’t bother her the least bit. What did bother her was the fact that the man lying on his stomach stared at her like a hawk watching his prey. When she first walked up to his bed, she felt her legs begin to wobble and her hands clam up.

She found her voice even though her mouth felt like she had swallowed a ball of cotton. How are you feeling today, Mr. Stevenson?

His eyes widened, as did the smirk on his face. "Mr. Stevenson, is it? Since when did you start
