Introduction
You don’t have to be a scholar for your voice to be heard. Joan of Arc could neither read nor write.
You were brought to this planet with a unique set of skills that was customized just for you—an original, a masterpiece.
As you evolve and change, your gift becomes more personalized, more unique. It underlies your personality, and when you know this, life seems to flow.
If you stay intellectually curious, you will always be rewriting your script. If becoming a better you is your goal, it will spill over onto everything you do.
Trends and styles change; as this happens we need to stay abreast, progressing and learning. All of this knowledge helps us to make changes when changes are necessary. Sometimes it takes longer than we would like to modify who we are, but it’s important to know when to initiate change. We all know that being the last one to leave the party is not always a good thing, just like remaining at a job when you’ve outgrown it.
Follow your instincts. They are sending you a message. Studies show that sometimes emotional intelligence
trumps intellect. If your mind is saying you can’t do this, but your gut is saying why not, it might be worth a try.
I
Pull up a chair. Take a taste. Come join us. Life is so endlessly delicious.
Ruth Reichl
Although the world is changing around us at an incredible speed, a lot of things have ultimately stayed the same. As humans, no matter what generation we come from, what continent or belief system, our bodies all have the same physical capacity, give or take. There is a limit to what we can expend without causing physical consequences. We are presently being asked to push our limits, whether it is from our work place or from within ourselves. We are striving for what we call balance.
We keep thinking that we are getting closer to a balanced life, when most of the time all we are doing is making adjustments to compensate. We can only achieve balance if we alter the perceived meaning. Balance should bring comfort. Although roles have intermingled within families, too many of the demands are overwhelming and are being felt by the entire nuclear family.
Even though everyone’s physical capacities are somewhat similar, our demands on ourselves are not. There is uniqueness to everyone’s approach to life. If we try to mimic others, it can sidetrack us as we try to reach our goals. Success means different things to different people. You were born you,
not everyone else. Your life should feel incredibly fulfilled at every given moment.
Wouldn’t it be nice if our circadian rhythms could dictate when we work? We are all affected differently by nature, light or lack thereof, and weather. We also all have our own internal clocks: morning people, night owls, etc. If we could arrange our work around our most productive hours, it would benefit us physically as well as benefit our employers. Think about the times
