Nicole and Barry have moved to the little town of Traysi, Arizona, and on the thirteenth of October, there's a knock at their door. It turns out that in Traysi, every October 13th is Takeover Day, when certain residents of the town are singled out by something not of this world.

Overtaken

It was October 13th. The middle of the month, the newly-formed National Face-Your-Fears Day, and in Traysi, Arizona, it was Takeover Day. Barry and Nicole Dugger had just moved into town, still had a dozen boxes left to unpack from their move, and had not been told about October 13th. Usually, a new arrival would be informed when they went to church, or registered their kids for school, or attended a neighborhood barbecue, but the Duggers were always traveling back to Colorado, trying to sell their old house, and weren’t very social to begin with.
