()
About this ebook
Hanich, a young man, is presented with a situation of being apprenticed to Mr. Scrimm, who is the proprietor of a shop which offers “Comfort for People in Extraordinary Circumstances”, which does business in the most rundown section of the city, a place called “The Academia”. Along with his co-worker, Mira, Hanich is given opportunity to learn the trade of giving help to the people who need it the most, and learning, in the course of it all, that some circumstances are more extraordinary than others.

Hanich, a young man, is an apprentice to Mr. Scrimm, the proprietor of a soup kitchen which offers Comfort for people in extraordinary circumstances
. Recently Hanich met a most astonishing woman whose name is Izabella. She lives through the ages of her life on a daily basis. Also, during a meeting of The Mothers of Specialized Toddlers, Hanich has made a lifelong friend in Kaylee, a toddler with four hands who has an affinity for cookies. He also learned that there is a danger to such people in the Academia.
The Collector
Hanich had been outside, walking out on the cobblestone streets, taking advantage of the mild fall day to give out cookies to the children in the neighborhood. It was something they did often at the Kitchen, what they called the soup kitchen on the corner of Studious Street. Ope, the large and silent cook, would produce a tray of cookies, point a wooden spoon at either Mira or Hanich, and walk away, expecting them to know what he intended for them.
He had been at the Kitchen for two weeks, and he enjoyed every day of it. There had been a time when he thought he would never find proper work at all, but then someone had brought him to the Academia where he would learn from Mr. Scrimm.
Mira, his fellow worker, was near his age, she had black hair and kind eyes which ignored her usually sour disposition. From the day he had met her, Mira wore a porcelain patch on her cheek. She was disinclined to speak about what purpose it might serve. Indeed, she rarely acknowledged it existed.
Oddly enough, she had recently replaced the porcelain on her cheek with another one which looked exactly the same. It was only slightly larger. Hanich was a young man who noticed details. Mr. Scrimm had been teaching him how to use
