    Previously:

Hanich, a young man, is an apprentice to Mr. Scrimm, the proprietor of a soup kitchen which offers Comfort for people in extraordinary circumstances. Recently Hanich met a most astonishing woman whose name is Izabella. She lives through the ages of her life on a daily basis. Mira, his fellow worker, was near his age, she had black hair and kind eyes which ignored her usually sour disposition. From the day he had met her, Mira wore a porcelain patch on her cheek. She was disinclined to speak about what purpose it might serve. Indeed, she rarely acknowledged it existed.

Oddly enough, she had recently replaced the porcelain on her cheek with another one which looked exactly the same. It was only slightly larger. Hanich was a young man who noticed details. Mr. Scrimm had been teaching him how to use
