The social picnic
riving to Los Angeles airport, I thought of the classic comic Frank Sargeson story in which the narrator asks his uncle if it’s right to take all the bananas for yourself at a picnic. I’d just seen a woman wrapped in a piece of black rubber, like a car mat. The mat kept slipping, and underneath it she was completely naked.
